Deep deep brown with a lingering brown head. Wafting notes of spice, rum and raisin. Wonderful in the mouth, thick and rich, complex - a bit of funk from the yeast, christmas cake flavours of fruit and nut, and a rich bitter aftertaste. One of my favourite beers.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 koppertone (13) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 8, 2013
We had this in Vernon. I think the transport agitated it quite a bit as the sediment was all over the place. That said it didn’t seem to affect the taste at all. This beer is weird but also delicious. Be careful though, it also has an alcohol content of 10%.
We were trying to piece together what we tasted in there because there was a lot. There were definitely dates, it tasted a bit nutty, but there was a lot going on. A really dark ale that was actually somewhat lighter to taste than it looked, but it still felt you had eaten an entire fruitcake.
I liked it enough to pick up a second bottle and I think I might get a third to have on hand for when family visit on the holidays.
