UPDATED: JUL 24, 2009 Bottle (750ml) Aged roughly 9 months piror to tasting. Poured hazy dark copper with a small, fizzy, light brown head which was mostly diminishing. A rich aroma with sticky toffee malts, muscatels, burnt brown sugar, currents, caramelized dates, cola, cinnamon and hints of dust. Flavor was smooth with a very mild bitterness, toffee malts, rich fruitcake notes, stewed apricots, nutmeg, cinnamon and a warming woody finish. Noticeable alcohol content. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, a slightly thick texture and a good length finish. A little to much on the sweet side for my liking.

Bottle, 330ml, best before 7/2016, drank at 12/2014. Pours dark hazy amber-brown, with medium tall, foamy beige head. Aroma of strong sweet dark malt, caramel, fruity, herbal, orange. Mouth feel is foamy and airy, slightly creamy and quite full. Medium-strong carbonation and a nice tang. Tastes very sweet, with some pretty strong bitterness and lightly sour. Very nice and interesting balance, preventing it from being painfully sweet. Flavor of very sweet dark malt, caramel, noticeable herbal thyme, strong bitter citrus peel, slight hops, yeast. Some dried fruits, raisin, slight cloves, slight liquorice, peppery, more bitter-sour orange, dry red wine, tannin, red fruits, alchohol, .

Poured from bottles, barely any head, not lively at all, dark amber brown, yeasty aroma...subtle hint of fruit. Very smooth, 10% well hidden. This is definitely making my Christmastime beer list. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from bottle into tulip. Aroma - malt, light spice, dark dried fruits. Taste is malty, notes of spices both from the thyme and the yeast. Very rich tasting, carbonation is prickly initially, but leaves a very nice medium length finish.

Bread, yeast, spice. Dark garnet with a thin white head that leaves a very light lacing. Spice, dark bread, candied fruit. Thin mouthfeel with a velvety sweet finish. Pleasantly boozy.

Pours an average frothy light brown head that mostly diminishes. Body is brown, sparkles are visible. Aroma contains light malts (grain, roasted malts, molasses, milk chocolate), light hops (flowers, herbs, orange), light yeasts (horse blanket) and grae, apple, pineapple, brown sugar, licorice and cola. Flavor is light acidic, then light acidic and sweet, followed by sweet, sweet and light bitter and finishing in light bitter. Body is medium with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

robto (30) - Belas, PORTUGAL - DEC 24, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2014 33cl bottle as a Christmas gift from a friend. It pours a deep red brown colour with a thin beige head that dissipates quite quickly. Aroma is dark fruits, brown sugar, toffee, wine, some nuts and alcohol. Taste is very sweet, lots of dark fruits, plums, toffee, some spices, typical Belgian yeast flavour, and some bitterness and alcohol warmth at the end. It has full body and soft carbonation. Excellent Belgian Christmas beer, and it goes very well in the cold weather.

Flaska från systemet - något mörk till färgen. Typiska belgiska dofter. Len i kroppen med mycket sötma, lite kryddig och en försiktig beska.
