hotstuff (3045), Indiana, USA Mar 4, 2008 Draft at Nicholson’s Pub, Cincinnati, OH and rated on 5/28/05. Small off-white head that quickly dissipated, fair amount of lacing, transparent, no carbonation noted, and an orange hue. Nose was malty, grassy, and light citrus notes. Flavor was sweet, lightly bitter, mildly hoppy, and thin tasting. Mouthfeel was smooth and thin. Light in body. Disappointing for a cask ale and not recommended. shigadeyo (1399), Southwest Ohio Area, Ohio, USA Dec 24, 2007 12/19/2007: Nicholson’s House Cask Ale has a vibrant, clear copper-orange color and appears to be nearly still. The aroma is quite green and grassy with some vague citrus notes and hints of butterscotch. The flacor is disconnected. It seems to be dry, GRASSY, and full of old wet hops. It has a lasting Cascade-like hop bitterness (mild to meoderate level), but it just isn’t that good. It has a medium-light body and is smooth. This beer just seems musty, infected, and/or made with bad/old hops. This beer is a huge disappointment and not recommended...

Tmoney99 (3636), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Dec 19, 2007 Draft sample at Nicholson’s. Poured clear brown with a moderate fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished with poor lacing. Moderate grassy malty and basement aroma. Light to medium body with a watery texture. Medium sweet infected flavor with medium sweet finish. My expectation where not met. beerheart (224), Erie, Colorado, USA Dec 13, 2007 On tap at Nicholson’s in Cincinnati. Nice pub. Nice beer. This was nicely mild and mellow. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 29, 2007 Draft at Nicholson’s. Aroma: Grainy maltiness with notes of toasted nuts and oatmeal. Light fruitiness (grapes and apples), brown sugar, and some earthy hops. Appearance: Reddish-brown in color and clear. Light beige head was small and creamy with good retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Brown sugar, Whole grain bread, toasted nuts, grapes. Some herbal, earth, and very light spice hop notes. Light bitterness and medium-sweet finish. Palate: Medium-light bodied. Light carbonation. Overall: Very much in the British mild tradition. I drank a few of these and continued to enjoy them over the session. That’s a good sign.
