Part of the Wet Hop Series. Bertwell 80/- is a typical Scottish style 80/- in terms of malt, it is then accented with wet Bertwell hops, the variety originally found in Prince Edward County in Ontario, now being grown at Harvest Hops and Malt in Guelph. The hops were used as a finishing hop and in dry hop.

An all day drinkable beer, a mild floral hop with a pleasant aroma. Slightly cloudy dark gold appearance with a smooth small bubble effervescence, and a mild bitter hop aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - Heavy caramel malts, orange and some candy sweetness. Pale gold with a nice white head. Candy, perfume and light orange/mandarin. Nice but really sweet. Very different from most wet hopped beers which have a lemon citrus dominating characteristic.

Third ontario wet hops brew in three days. And this one comes in second (well above the abysmal trafalgar offering & slightly below Amsterdam’s) with a pretty pale yellow pour with a one finger cap that fades quicker than my paycheque. Aroma is punchy fresh hops. Loving the taste with this one: wet grassy hops, solid malt backbone & sessionable full flavour. Great stuff.

341ml bottle from the brewery. hazy amber. nice complex malt nose, some spicy hops as well. the flavour is similar. the malt progression is really well done and the hopping is ample but not the best part of the beer. great cold weather session beer.

Bottle from From the brewery, this is a wet hop 80/- made with fresh harvested hops from a local source. Pours a murky amber-red with a 1 finger tight sticky cap. Modest carbonation. Aroma is very pleasant – a perfect balance between rich toasty-sweet malts and fresh floral hops. Flavour is what one would expect from a wet hopped ale coupled with a scots wee heavy – Rich chewy malts in front with balance from floral/resinous herbaceous hop bittering from green cones. As this finishes the hops dominate making the long wet finish pleasingly bitter. A nice mix of malts and choice of fresh hops make this unfiltered ale a very drinkable with tons of flavour.
