COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For those who aren’t afraid of big and bold beer! Made with a blend of roasted barley, chocolate and amber malt, this Imperial Stout has many deep flavours of rich and dark fruit and is naturally carbonated to give an incredibly smooth finish.

The head is almost as dark as the beer itself, which makes for a lovely appearance. Chocolate is the most obvious flavour, but it doesn’t linger. Nicely balanced with just the right amount of bitterness. Haven’t tried anything from Nickel Brook before, but I’ll keep an eye out now.

(bottle) clear very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of caramel, stewed fruit, vanilla; rich, balanced flavour with a long, medium bitter finish

Bottle from LCBO. Pour black with lots of mocha head. Nose is roasted malt, dark fruits. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Roasty flavours, with some bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Really like this one. Underrated.

Pitch black with a big dark brown head. Roasted malt and bitter hop aroma. A little boozy, full bodied, creamy texture and soft carbonation, bitter and burnt, ashy flavour. Hop bitterness is present, but can’t really pick out specific flavours. The roast flavour is bold and fairly good, but the smooth carbonation is a real treat.

Bottle from LCBO at Darren's. Dark black pour with very fine creamy tan head. Aroma is a bit raisiny, toasted malts, some slight hoppiness. Taste is rich and roasted malty. Quite good.

Smells of coffee, plum, grape, grape juice, raisin. Tastes bitter, spiced dry fruit. Body is medium, spicy, gently fizzy.

Clearly very unctuous in the pour. Dark brown with aroma of chocolate, cherries and hops. Tastes of the same with lingering grass in the aftertaste.

It’s late and I’m tired. Nice, chocolatey IS. Caramel, chocolate, burnt toast and a bit of liquorice. Mild alcohol warmth, cut nicely with a dry, bitter chocolate finish. As my buddy Tiki noted this is kind of a light-heavyweight fighting in a heavyweight class, but this is good stuff.

worldbeertaste (1720) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 12, 2014
Black with a faint tan tint and a tan ring of lasting, light lacy head. Smells of light berries - blackcurrant, brown sugar (icing), vanilla and roasted coffee. Tastes of sweet malt, roast on the tongue, with a burnt ash and slightly alcohol finish. Full of malt with an alcohol burn. A decent stout but its too boozy. Needs a few years.
