3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
341ml bottle pours black in color with a small light brown head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains and chocolate. Taste is a raisin and chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain and hop bitterness. As far as Imperial Stouts go this one is quite a bit below average.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On Tap at Brothers in Ottawa. Very strong chocolate and malt, not much else. The flavour is lacking in complexity, and the mouthfeel leaves a bit to be desired.
Much better in the bottle, a lot more roast coffee, and stronger stout mouthfeel.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap @ Brothers Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Tasted side by side with Dieu de Cielís Grande Noirceur, and this beer suffered greatly by comparison. Sorely lacking in malty depth, with flavours of plums and cola and capsicum, this did not stand up to its competitor. Thinnish mouthfeel.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask: Poured a dark black color stout with a light dark brown foamy head with light retention. Aroma of chocolate and green pepper is not the most interesting. Taste is also dominated by light roasted malt, bitter chocolate and with loads of green peppers. Body is a bit light with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I am not sure what brewing flaws generates the green peppers ester but this was not the most pleasant experience.

On tap at National Capital Beer Festival. Dark black with a generous brown head that is beautiful to look at. Roasted malts, hints of bittersweet chocolate and coffee grinds, some alcohol. Moderate carbonation and body, smooth, clean, slightly bitter and enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Toronto Festival of Beer and again at Forest City Beer Fest. Enjoyed much more at the former than the latter. Dark, syrupy, roasted coffee, plum and chocolate.

Iechyd da bra. Thick black, syrup pour with a thin quick dissapating tan hrad leaving a cling lace. Very bold roasted malt chocolate aroma. Delicious flavour of roasted malt, chocolate. Great texture with a pleasant alcoholic kick. Slight herb hints. Very nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black with a very thin, light brown head. Smells slightly of roasted coffee. Taste is slightly sweet. A touch of coffee and chocolate with a bitterness. Very creamy and thick texture while drinking.
A good local stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Jet Black, well laced and tan head. Roast and toffee aroma with some caramel, chocolate. Sweet flavour profile with a boozy finish. Has a fruit cake mid palate which is nice and some espresso. Although it is a little bit thin for the style of beer it is good none the less.

Cask at Volo, I assume. I donít know where else I would have had a cask beer, so it must be Volo. I was disappointed with this one. Flavours were okay; nothing off. But it was too thin.
