COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Nickel Brook ’Bolshevik Bastard’ Russian Imperial Stout is scientific creation brewed especially for those of you who aren’t afraid of big and bold flavours! Made with a blend of Roasted, Chocolate and Crystal malts; this Imperial Stout exhibits many deep flavours of rich, roasty chocolate and dark fruit. To counterbalance the sweetness, the Bolshevik Bastard is aggressively hopped to give rise to this remarkably smooth Russian Imperial Stout. Na zdorovye!

A rick black colour with a thick, dark tan head. Aroma is understated with milk chocolate, some coffee and vegetables. The taste is not massive for the 9.6% abv. It features chocolate, heavily roast or slightly burnt toffee, a touch of coffee and some dark fruit. An unusual hint of bubble gum underneath the dominant tastes. Not a big imperial, but tasty.

355 ml bottle from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours a dark black with no head.

Aroma: Almonds, dark chocolate, prunes, dates, hint of coffee.

Flavours: Chocolate fudge, bit of espresso.

Mouthfeel: Moderate viscosity with low carbonation. Very, very smooth going down.

Overall: A really nice imperial stout with great chocolate flavours.

Cask @ Winking Judge. Dark brown. Aroma is choc and a fair bit of molasses. Rich, woody, lots of molasses and burnt raisins. Smooth body on cask, too.

Almost jet black, with an extremely thin, slightly off-white head. The aromas are burnt malts, an alcohol sting, coffee, and dark fruits like raisins. Tastes feature dark chocolate, malts, booziness, black coffee. I can truly say this is one of my favourite Nickel Brook beers, and very good bang for the buck. A superior brew at every day prices.

The head is almost as dark as the beer itself, which makes for a lovely appearance. Chocolate is the most obvious flavour, but it doesn’t linger. Nicely balanced with just the right amount of bitterness. Haven’t tried anything from Nickel Brook before, but I’ll keep an eye out now.

(bottle) clear very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of caramel, stewed fruit, vanilla; rich, balanced flavour with a long, medium bitter finish

Bottle from LCBO. Pour black with lots of mocha head. Nose is roasted malt, dark fruits. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Roasty flavours, with some bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Really like this one. Underrated.

Pitch black with a big dark brown head. Roasted malt and bitter hop aroma. A little boozy, full bodied, creamy texture and soft carbonation, bitter and burnt, ashy flavour. Hop bitterness is present, but can’t really pick out specific flavours. The roast flavour is bold and fairly good, but the smooth carbonation is a real treat.

Bottle from LCBO at Darren's. Dark black pour with very fine creamy tan head. Aroma is a bit raisiny, toasted malts, some slight hoppiness. Taste is rich and roasted malty. Quite good.

Smells of coffee, plum, grape, grape juice, raisin. Tastes bitter, spiced dry fruit. Body is medium, spicy, gently fizzy.
