Our Nickel Brook ’Bolshevik Bastard’ Russian Imperial Stout is scientific creation brewed especially for those of you who aren’t afraid of big and bold flavours! Made with a blend of Roasted, Chocolate and Crystal malts; this Imperial Stout exhibits many deep flavours of rich, roasty chocolate and dark fruit. To counterbalance the sweetness, the Bolshevik Bastard is aggressively hopped to give rise to this remarkably smooth Russian Imperial Stout.

This beer is one of my absolute favourite. So nice and dark with great notes of chocolate, coffee, and a little bit of dried fruit. So amazing.

Here I am about to eat crow (figuratively, literally I have.a lasagne in the oven). Yesterday I say GLB’s Harry Porter Vanilla Bean version, aka the sequel, and I declared the sequel is never as hood as the original. Then I have this guy whose Kentucky version is freaking awesome. But all that aside this brew, which pours inky black with the thought of tan head, is a damn nice brew. Toasty roasted malts, ’booze, a little coffee and sugar, and a hint of ... blackberries? on the nose. Good clean taste thick roasted malts, mild mild vanilla, booze, coffee with a mild sweetness that balances everything out beautifully. Not as good as the sequel, but damn nice. basement aromas,

355 ml bottle from the LCBO. Appearance: Pours a dark black with no head. Aroma: Almonds, dark chocolate, prunes, dates, hint of coffee. Flavours: Chocolate fudge, bit of espresso. Mouthfeel: Moderate viscosity with low carbonation. Very, very smooth going down. Overall: A nice imperial stout with good chocolate flavours.

A rick black colour with a thick, dark tan head. Aroma is understated with milk chocolate, some coffee and vegetables. The taste is not massive for the 9.6% abv. It features chocolate, heavily roast or slightly burnt toffee, a touch of coffee and some dark fruit. An unusual hint of bubble gum underneath the dominant tastes. Not a big imperial, but tasty.

Cask @ Winking Judge. Dark brown. Aroma is choc and a fair bit of molasses. Rich, woody, lots of molasses and burnt raisins. Smooth body on cask, too.

Almost jet black, with an extremely thin, slightly off-white head. The aromas are burnt malts, an alcohol sting, coffee, and dark fruits like raisins. Tastes feature dark chocolate, malts, booziness, black coffee. I can truly say this is one of my favourite Nickel Brook beers, and very good bang for the buck. A superior brew at every day prices.
