COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Balance is finding the point between two opposing forces for a more desirable outcome: Equilibrium. We crafted our Nickel Brook Equilibrium ESB with balance as the primary objective. Equilibrium has a great malt character and full body that you expect in an ESB. We balance it with a generous dosage of hops that gives Equilibrium a distinct fruity flavour and appropriate level of bitterness. We advise you to find your Equilibrium today!

473 mL bottle. Hazy, rusty brown with a small white head. Lots of earthy British hops in the nose, followed by sugary caramel. Nice. The flavour is a little more muddled, with neither of those elements distinguishing themselves. Decent body. Nice enough beer.

Can. Hazy Amber in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas set of bready and caramel malts, orchard fruit, and herbal hops. Fairly hefty on the palate, with a blend of bread, toasted nut, caramel, nectarine, cut grass and herbs. Lots going on. Tasty, but it could have been leaner.

Can. Cloudy dark amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel and grainy malt, a little bready and slightly metallic. Flavour is bright and hoppy for an ESB, a little pine and citrus, with some toasty notes and a slightly spicy, bitter finish. Pretty decent ESB.

HippyHop (450) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 21, 2015
Cask version, served at room temp. Wish I had tried the canned version at the same time. Nose is caramel malt, roasted grain, earthy/woody notes. Barely any hops in the aroma. Taste is more earthy caramel, with a typical Bitter finish. Decent but kinda meh, although I felt like a real Brit drinking this stuff alone at the rubber before heading home to the trouble and strife. Ahem.

Dark murky amber body, with lasting foamy off-white and some lacing. Roasty malt aroma. Slight bit of citrus and lactose on the nose. Taste is rich roast, almost burnt, malts, piney hops. A pretty nice ESB.

A solid esb. Pours a murky burnt orange. Aromas of bread, cereals and booze mostly. Not as sweet and malty as some esbs. Mostly hoppy with a bread and grain like notes. Decent.

Tranquillity (1453) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUN 8, 2015
Real cask version at Barhop, Toronto. Really nice aroma, not too strong but it’s a bit like dark bread. The taste is sweet, fruity, even with some apricot. The finish could be stronger for an ESB.

HopsandBolts (193) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 31, 2015
On tap at Local Public Eatery.

Appearance: Pours a hazy orange with a solid finger of creamy white head. Good retention and lacing.

Aroma: Malt, creal, bread.

Flavours: Malt, cereal, biscuit, caramel.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and thick.

Overall: I like ESBs and this one is pretty good. Lots of malt and cereal components but it is also thick and creamy which is something you don’t often get in an ESB.

Cask at Pub Italia. Hazy copper with a thin frothy white head. Flavors are toasted cereals, biscuit, caramel and nuts with fruity, earthy and herbal notes. Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth texture.

473ml can. Slightly hazy copper pour, with a large beige head. Great nutty, bready malts with some sweet caramel malts too. Nice hopping, crisp, but slightly citrusy, with light stone fruit. Incredibly well balanced, a easy drinking esb.
