A boldly hopped, full bodied American style IPA. Brewed using primarily Nugget hops give Headstock IPA a distinct hop flavour, bitterness and aroma. It also used a blend of classic European and North American malts to enhance the body and flavour. No additives. No preservatives. Naturally caronated for a smooth, crisp finish.

On tap at the Ottawa beerfest. An opaque gold with a filmy head. It has a bitter pine needle bouquet with a decent malt backbone. Medium bodied with a tongue-scrapingly bitter body. The taste is supremely bitter pine - one dimensional but good for hop heads.

Poured from 473mL can. Orangey yellow with off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with a little biscuity malt. Flavour same with a bit of citrus, but a little soapy and astringent leaving a drymouth finish.

Continuous sales on this ipa keep it fresh in Toronto and this IPA is a heavy hitter when fresh. Nickle Brook’s new recipe is an amazing ipa that does not hurt the wallet. I wouldn’t recommend this as someone first ipa as it may come across as too intensely bitter for some. Strong tropical fruit, lots of mango, pineapple, orange, orange peel, pine (low compared to the tropical fruit). Big Citra notes. Where this ipa may lack subtly it is exactly what I want out of an IPA. The malt comes through on the nose as it warms, when cold all I can get are the hops. The body the malt provides is heavy but not syrupy. There is plenty of resin left behind after each sip which leads to a long and enjoyable finish. As someone who likes to pick up new beers for each session it is hard for me not to pick this one up over a new ipa that may be mediocre.
