3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Volo
Aroma citric, herbal with nettle. Malty backing. Late note of lime and alcohol.
Appearance medium white top with gold hazed base. Touch of amber.
Flavor and Palate : vegetal onion like front. Musky with hop backing. Beyond strange onion notes you will be greeted with heat of alcohol and citric hops. Could my sample be off?

[5341-20130505] Tap. Sweaty pine tree sap aroma. Murky, orange brown body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Bitter evergreen resin hops flavour has a long bitter finish. Medium-full body. Lovely bitter brew, very well-balanced. (8/4/8/4/16) 4.0

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Second Ottawa Brewers Market. Nice vibrant amber with a generous off white head. A muted wet grapefruit and resin aroma that is intriguing, some grass and a bit of malt towards the end of the nose. Moderate carbonation and full body, dry, alcohol is very well hidden although you get a bit of heat on the dry and hoppy finish. Very tasty - would gladly buy this in bottles if it made it out here.

Bottle, thanks Colin! Huge citrus hops and grapefruit in pleasing aroma . Medium orange, fluffy white head . Lovely huge citrus taste . Alcohol present and punches you in the face . Huge hop bitterness . But if a house nickel taste , not a bad thing . Long hop burn linger . Is there a better double ipa made in Ontario? Not sure . This more than holds its own with the classics . Really nice job folks .

Pale orange pour with a thick tight white head. The nose is awesome. Juicy citrus and lemon/grapefruit. A bright fruit citrus. Assertive hoppiness and a touch of pepper. Clean malt base with a load of expressive juicy citrusy hops. Delicious.

Bottle from brewery. Cloudy amber, white lacing. Aroma of peaches and strawberries, some grassiness. Taste is sweet honey, peach, and other fruits, moving to a moderately bitter finish. A little sticky, big body. Not as good as the black version (Malevolant).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Volo. Pours a deep orange-amber with a small long-lasting frothy white head. Aroma is quite fruity, with lots of fruity hops, along with malt in the back and some alcohol. Flavour is also fruity and hoppy, a bit perfumy, and with some grain and alcohol. Moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2013 (Draught at Bryden’s, Toronto) Poured a hazy orange with an off-white head, sticky with lots of lace. Aroma of citrus-pine-pot hops with a bit of pit fruit, probably an interplay of the hops with a fairly hefty sweet caramel malt behind. Flavour is fairly hoppy, pine leading the citrus fruit chracters with some resiny character but there is still substantial caramel malt sweetness behind. Bitterness is fairly strong and piney from mid-palate on, though the malt carries through and it never gets terribly dry at the finish. Seemed to be just a bit of alcohol heat. Carbonation moderate, body fairly full and sticky. A pretty good big IPA, not obscene. Didn’t seem to agree with my stomach though - maybe a lot of unfermentable sugar?
