We bring you a taste of Belgium with Le Paysan Saison. this style originated from the farms of Belgium where it served to refresh workers as they toiled in the fields over the hot summer months. We fermented our Saison warm which gives rise to many distinct fruity aromas. The initial malt flavour gives way to a crisp, dry finish with a lingering spiciness. The result is a remarkably smooth, refreshing beer that anyone can enjoy in the hot summer months!

A tasty saison, erring on the side of clean, summery and refreshing. Top to bottom, this is a beer summer needs. The body is a light honey gold with a big fluffy white head with solid lacing. The nose is soft but pleasant, with light malt, some apple and a touch of Belgian yeast. The taste is easy drinking at its very best, with green apple, soft yeast, citrus and spices, including lavender and cloves. The effervescence is moderate to heavy, but not overdone. The body is moderate to light. Both of these characteristics help deliver a clean refreshing finish

On tap at Brothers Beer Bistro (Ottawa, ON). Hazy golden body with a thin, white foamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with herbal and citrusy hints. Its well balanced taste carries coriander, grainy, and citrusy notes. Ends with a decent bitter/herbal finish. Enjoyable.

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy golden color with generous head. Nice aroma of biscuity cereals and spices, flowers withered by the summer sun. Dry but smooth, highly carbonated; the spicy character from the yeast is storng; a bit of vegetables too unfortunately; but in the end it’s a solid beer, a bit funky.

750mL bottle, pours a clear / hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out lots of farmhouse yeast, some pepper, and a lovely spiciness. Flavour is pretty solid, with Belgian yeast, pepper and spiciness, just as in the nose. Nice balanced of flavours - no residual sweetness. Nicely done saison, especially for a North American attempt.

For me, this is what a saison should be. Tasty, refreshing, interesting and subtle. Nothing hits you in the face, everything just shows up delicately and says: "Hey, relax, we’re good!". I love it!

Thin white frothy head atop a cloudy Amber body. Nose of chalk and watercress. Tasty dry, yeasty and spice hop. Very nice.

750 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden straw with a thick, resilient white head. Aroma is lemon, pepper, fresh cereal. Flavor is fruits (apple, peach, pear), bubble gum and cereals. Finish is lemon, pepper, some mint. Lingering subtle fruit aromas. Light to medium body, average carbonation. Refreshing as heck.

Aug. 16, 2014. Bottle from LCBO. Golden yellow, slightly cloudy. BIg white head that lingered. Aromas of hops, straw and lemon. Seems too hoppy for a saison; hops are very prominent. Nice lacing. Had this on tap before and it was much better. Quite disappointing in the bottle.
