We brewed our Nickel Brook Maple Porter to be first and foremost, a robust and full bodied porter, using premium roasted and pale malts. We then infuse pure, dark Canadian maple syrup into the brewing process, so the maple essence becomes integrated during fermentation. The result is a truly wonderful and complex mixture of roast you desire in a robust porter, with background hints of maple flavour and aroma. No additive or preservatives. Naturally carbonated for a smooth, creamy finish.Nickel Brook Maple Porter is a unique Canadian interpretation of a timeless classic!

Basic porter. I could not pick up the maple taste and actually found it a little bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Jet black pour with a big tan cap. Nose is all maple and burnt toast. It’s a bit on the sweet side, a touch watery, but I still dig this stuff. Am I the only one who gets randomly itchy when I can’t sleep?

473ml can. Brona pour. Cocoa aroma, mild maple nutty. Flavor is dry cocoa, some bitterness, earthiness, not sweet which is pleasant.

16 oz can. Pours black with a tan head. Rich creamy coffee and dark cocoa aroma, with a sweetness to it. Flavor is roasty dark cocoa and coffee with anise notes. A bit of maple in the finish, though I wouldn’t pick it out without it being in the name. Pretty tasty.

Cannette 473 ml. Couleur brune, mousse beige. Arôme de chocolat noir et malt. En bouche, trop de chocolat malt, pas vraiment d’érable, assez mince, notes de chocolat et base maltée. Y’a qqch qui dérange. Correct.

16 oz can from Cappy’s at home. Pours dark brown in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, mild maple syrup, caramel, some ash to the finish, a bit too thin and just very average in my opinion, the Imperial Ipa was solid.

Dark pour, frothy white head. Lighter Maple notes, dark malts in aroma. Lighter Maple sweetness gives way to ash in the taste. Thinner body than it should have.

Can 6.0%. Pours a dark coke colour with a red edge and a tan head. Malty, sweet caramel, light rum aroma. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Very coca-cola’ish, with dark toffee and light dark fruit. Pretty thin and insipid poor.

Au son, un pétillement sans égale, avec une détonation à l’odeur de sirop d’érable et de grain rotie. En bouche, très pétillante, avec un goût de grain de café rotie, et chocolat noir, avec un mini soupçon d’érable.

Originally rated March 2013. 750ml bottle with a wax-sealed cap. Pours a dark brown colour with a frothy mocha cap that has great retention and foamy thin lace. Coffee aroma start, with eventually caramel and roasted malts, dark fruit notes and mild yeast. The maple really appears in the taste, not to add too much sweetness, but well-balanced with the hop bitterness in the finish. Mild sugars, roasted malt and a tad of dark fruits. A very nice, easy-drinking porter, with hints of maple syrup.

750 ml bottle from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours black with almost a finger of tan head. Short retention with little lacing.

Aroma: Toasted malt, grain, cereal, bit of liqueur.

Flavours: Dark toasted malt, black coffee, cola, hint of dark chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Average viscosity with lighter carbonation.

Overall: A nice Porter with tons of malt. I didn’t get any maple, but this was still a really nice Porter.
