4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
355mL bottle from brewery. Pours hazy/golden with a white head. The aroma of citrus hops are to die for, and the taste is even better. At 4.9%, this is a great, refreshing, everyday APA!

Really outstanding APA. Pours a hazy yellow. Lots of fruity hop flavour and aroma. I’ve had this both in bottles and on tap and both versions are outstanding.
Perfect beer for when you want something with a lower ABV than an IPA.

Can, Embrun LCBO. Had this on tap many many times before but will rate from the can. Clear with some hazy medium to dark yellow, nice small foamy head. What a lovely aroma, straight from the crack of the can and then from the glass - fresh grapefruit hops, orange citrus as well. I love this aroma - like rubbing hops in your hand. Mouthfeel is foamy and vibrant. Taste - some light malt sweetness up front, herbal, fruity, citrusy hops in middle, and then aggressive hop bitterness in fish. All remaining well balanced with light malt body. Clean. What a very drinkable hoppy beer. Kicks the ass of just about any other "Session IPA" style beers that I have had. Seriously well done Nickel Brook - so glad to be able to get this out here in cans.

Purchased at LCBO for just under $13 for 6 pack. Before I purchased it seeing it was only 4.9% I was bit worried it might not have enough taste to this one even tho the label said it has a lot taste for a small beer. When looking in a glass it was quite pale. Once i tasted it however, it lived up to what it said. Lots of hop taste but at the same time one of the best session beers. Great job on this one Nickel Brook!

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: DEC 2, 2014 Pours a nice clean pale amber, frothy white head and perfect carbonation. Mild citrus and pine flavours on the palate, and just enough bitterness from the hops to make it interesting. 4.9% makes it a reasonable brew for a work night. So far the closest thing to my "perfect" beer that I?ve found yet. Well done!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle bought at the Nickelbrook brewery in Burlington/Canada. Overall a fantastic American pale ale. I fell in love with this style during my Canada visit in June and early July 2014. I had many American pale ales in that time in Toronto and this one is definitely among them.

Cask pint at Rhino during Nickel Brook’s event in the Cask 5 series. Nice orangey-amber with a slight haze and a thin white head. Punchy aroma of those C-hops with mild supporting malt. Flavour is all about the hops as well, but it’s not over the top - they’re more fresh and almost fruity rather than tongue-blisteringly bitter. Long, luscious finish. Fantastic!

May 2, 2012 - on cask at Volo (and a few times since at Bar Hop). Slightly hazy amber-tinged bright refractive gold with a decent lasting frothy/rocky off-white lasting head. Aroma - cereal grain, citrus zest, a hint of tropical fruit ... goodness that’s wonderful, no alcohol at all. Taste - follows - light body, simply waves of grassy/catty hop bitterness, the perfect cereal malt body to match, soft and airy on the palate (just perfect cask mouthfeel), some sweetness but not bad - floral and pineapple/mango character - great stuff! finishes medium-quick, pungent lightly coating aftertaste, really left me wanting more. A real "drink buckets of it" beer - "Nickel Brook - I think you have finally arrived!" from my voice notes.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at C’est What. Pours a nice orange-y copper with a small bubbly head. Aroma is nice and hoppy, sharp but without being too much. Mild malt background character. Flavour is extremely smooth, with a solid malt back bone but behind a very good hop presence both in flavour and bitterness. The bitterness isn’t so much that I can’t appreciate the hop flavours. Had to intentionally not drink my pint too quickly so I could properly evaluate and enjoy this. A bit cold considering it’s ’cask’, but I can let it slide with a solid beer like this. It’s amazing to me that these days Nickel Brook is actually producing top-notch stuff.
