COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We kicked it up a notch with our Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout, aging it in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. The rich chocolate, coffee and dark fruit flavours from our Imperial Stout are married together with the vanilla, oak and warming alcohol from bourbon barrels. Together as one, the result is an incredible blend of aroma and taste. Drink it today, or cellar it to enjoy later as it matures.

Bottle split at my 40th Sheenans at CBC Islo, big thanks to the Wingman (and no doubt FLBH!) for this bad assed named beer, 11/10/14. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is strong on bourbonics, liqourice, dark malts, woody rinse, light roast. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, spice, dark malt, bourbon pretty prominent, tar. Medium + body, fine carbonation, lightly drying close with a bourbon wash. Ok BBA impy, a little 1D but pretty drinkable none the less, ABV is fairly well integrated.

Bottle share for Colin’s 40th. Viscous dark brown caramel coloured pour with a lasting cteaam coloured pour with lasting cream coloured pour. Aroma is nutty cremr caramel, a little tart raspberry. Flavour is rounded berry caramel, creamy. Really tasty. Thanks to big Dave.

Bottle, black with a tan head, leather, cocoa and gravy nose, rich and smooth, syrupy texture, lightly smoky and woody. Vanilla and a touch of milk chocolate. But overall dry and soupily roasty, and generally delicious.

Bottle shared in London during CR’s bday - thanks to WingmanWillis! Pours thick black-brown with a creamy khaki head. Big dark fruit aroma with notes of sugary chocolate. Big sweet flavor with creamy chocolate, moderate roast, burnt toffee, further dark, dried fruits. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish with nice notes of vanilla, chocolae, dark fruits, scorched earth. Solid overall. Pretty well balanced, decent depth.

Scopey (7183) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 11, 2014
Bottle thanks to the Wingman. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is sweet, toffee, vanilla, toffee, spicy, bourbon, oily and treacle. The taste is bitter, ashy, roasty, earth, tar, dirt, vanilla, toffee, some acidity, wood and coffee liqueur with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Punchy big bastard. Big bourbon. Jesus. Perhaps too harsh.

Very very dark pour with very little head. So little head I worried that my bottle had gone flat. Boozy nose, boozy mouth and a boozy finish. You can really taste the Burbon, Actually it’s overpowering. Maybe if I liked bourbon more it would be different. Besides that there’s some nice stout bitterness and hints of dark chocolate.

Pours a real dark brown with no visible highlights. Fizzy sound, looks like the beige head is going to disappear quickly, but not so much. Some creamy thin lace is left. Aromas starts off with roasted malts and hops. After breathing, butterscotch, alcohol, vanilla, cherries and wood appear. No burning with the alcohol well-hidden in the mouthfeel. Smooth and silky. Roasted and chocolate malts, with some licorice, nuts and coffee. The finish has a nice bit blended from the alcohol and the hop. Nicely done !

2013-01-21 - on draught at Bar Hop. Black with ruby highlights, smallish attractive creamy light brown head (4-). Smells like bourbon - vanilla, oak, deep deep roast, plenty o’ booze ... geez it’s a bourbon monster; I pretty much entirely hate bourbon now, but to be fair it’s well done so I am going 8/10 (would like more bitterness in the aroma). Taste follows - molasses, background herbal bitterness (more than the aroma) - but mostly bourbon. Decent body, slick, a bit burnt, mildly carbonated, malty yeah but mostly vanilla and booze. For those that love that.

A 750ml bottle cellared for 4 months. Pours very dark brown, with a foamy brown head that dissipates rather quickly. Aromas of mocha, chocolate milk, and alcohol. Nice rich mouthfeel. Tastes of coffee, malts, red fruits mainly cherries. Very boozy with bourbon undertones to the whole affair. Overall this is an in your face 10 percenter. Will appeal to lovers of coffee oriented beers, and has a nice warming booziness for those who enjoy that sort of thing. Recommended as a sipper. A definite re-buy.
