Quite a lot of suspended sediment in the beer, making it less visually impressive than expected/hoped. Fresh, almost grassy aroma. Taste is fairly simple and the alcohol is very present. Not the most balanced or interesting Belgian ale I’ve had.

A clear golden colored beer, with a thick white head. The aroma of fruits, sweet orange and citrus, malt with some hop. The taste of sweet fruits with some bitter hops and some spices. The aftertaste is sweet with a pleasant bitter.

33cl Bottle from ABS Drinks Winksele, as Cuvée van de Generaal. Slightly hazy golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of dry pale malts, light fruity, light floral, yeast, a bit muted. Flavour is light-sweet, malty, light fruity and floral, dry bitter finish with some yeast notes. Light to medium-bodied. Simple.

Bottle. Golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is yeast, spices, malt. Flavour is yeast, malt, spices, alcohol, sugar. Medium to full body. OK/Nice beer.

(Bottled, BBE 06/2014) Hazy golden with a medium, firm and lacy head. Aroma of pale-wheaty malt, some acidity, red currant, spices. Flavor is lightly acidic and pale-malty with green apple notes and grassy hops. Less acidity with yeast, but also more alcohol presence. Medium to full body, somewhat foamy CO2. Too dry-grassy and acidic for my taste, but quite well made as such. 2536

Clear medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, light hoppy, moderate yeasty, fruity, belgium yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, yeast, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120622]

Bottle marked as Cuvee Van de Generaal thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a clear golden hued body with some particles and a small white head. Aromas are mildly bready malty, very dry, boozy, estery, peppery phenols and mildly musty. Flavors are very dry and alcoholic (especially given the ABV), earthy, mildly bready, clean and lightly floral. Pretty decent overall, but very warming with lively bubbles and a dry finish.

Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, sugar and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with an average sweet, boozy finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
