33 ml bottle, Appearance: Very dark brown colour ,with a small 1 inger sized, thick beige head on top. Head has a good retention, and leaves medium lacing on the glass. Aroma: A full dark fruits basket( figs, dates, elderberries.), some roasted malts, some apricots Nice ! Taste: Well the taste has a real suprise you take the tastes of the aroma but you add that Typically too sweet candy sugar Barley Wine style of the Jopen brewerie but this time you keep just in balance. by the roasted bitterness. Yes it; s sweet Fruity, but just enough roast to keep it nice. And with taste like that all the alcohol does is boost things. without comming into front. Medium thick body, good carbonation with a slightly sticky palate. Very good brew.. And quite unique. I would personally say it’s a barley wine not a triple !

Bottle, pours dark brown with an off white head. Aroma: figs, dates, candy sugar, dried apricot, roast, elderberries. Taste: liquorice, roast, dark fruit, candy sugar berries, port, chocolate. Medium sweet, light-mediun bitter, medium thin body, creamy mouthfeel. Fruity tart and chocolate finish. Lovely.

Heavy on dark roasted malts. But in a good way! Not too complex taste or aroma. Quite some alcohol on the aftertaste. For food pairing I propose a meaty stew or something otherwise rich in taste.

Figen, mørke frugter, ristede noter men ikke kaffe. Dejlig mellow og rund. Kan godt dufte og smage at den har lagret 3 år på flaske. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Uitgesproken smaak, maar echt helemaal niets voor mij. Sommige mensen zullen dit zeker goed kunnen smaken, maar ik niet

The first beer from Nieuwhuys and very different from the witbier style we all instantly associate with the name Hoegaarden. Pale beige, firm, sticky, mousse-like head, colour a very dark brown with wine-red glow, misty. Very fruity and malty nose of banana, cacao powder, coffee liqueur, cinnamon, sweet sherry, pears, mint, candi sugar; rounded mouthfeel, dark fruits and candi sweetness, mild carbonation, a hint of orange peel, all on a firm basis of chocolate-, caramel- and nut-like maltiness, also some yeasty spiciness and a leafy bitterish hoppiness in the tail, where the somewhat cloying sweetness of the candi sugar also lingers on and some warming, wodka-like alcohol emerges, very slightly burning and in that respect not that well hidden. A bit stronger now than it was in the beginning and I have the impression they also toned down the roasted malt accent, which is no longer noticeable.

Stubby 330 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 10% Very dark brown colour on the body, with a small but thick beige head sitting on top, good retention, medium lacing on the glass. Aroma of liquorice, light chocolate, very nice. Taste also of liquorice, roasted malts, some dark fruits, mainly plums, well hidden alcohol -it’s there but not 10% there. Moderate sweet. Medium thick body, good carbonation with a bite, sticky palate. Overall very good.
