Berliner Weisse style sour ale aged on Cape Cod cranberries and Florida oranges
A lively, playful sour, Cape Codder Weisse sips like a tart beer cocktail. With tangy flavors of berry, citrus, grassy wheat, and ripe cranberry, this is a great beer to brighten any dark winter evening. Over 150 pounds of fresh cranberries were boiled and poured into each batch, giving the beer its distinctive coral-like color. A few days before bottling, we added fresh orange zest to the fermenter. Drink this bottle fresh, or age it for complexity.

750 ml bottle dated January 2015 provided by T.J. Nice pink, clear color, no head. Aroma is tart cranberry, funky yeast, and light plastic.

The center has some funky yeast with a tart sharp fruit in the finish. Some sharp acidic notes after the sip, traces of yogurt. Lemon juice and light citrus rind. Well, overall I am not a fan of sours but for a Berliner is only ok.

Well, it’s very sour. cranberry comes through at the middle and finish just as the sour goes away. good body, nice mouthfeel. lots and lots of cranberry. crisp, melon as well. just so darn sour.

Hazy pink pour with a slight white head. Buttery fruit nose. Not bad, just odd. Nice tartness. Cranberry fruit. Lactic with a hint of acetic. Refreshing. Citrus bite in the finish.

SF5! Pours a pale slightly pink with a very slight head. Flavor is very tart, lightly fruity. Matches the aroma. Tart and refreshing, begs for hot weather.

Bottle via Ernesto from long ago. Thanks for this as it was our New England beer for a tiny Super Bowl party. Shared four ways in inappropriate glassware (UCLA steins). Pours a hazy orange with big white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is very pronounced cranberry and lactic acid notes. Taste is moderate sour with some fruit in the finish. Almost some candy orange peel. Nice but not overly complex.

Tepid grapefruit body, fizzy white head craters, oily cap. Earthy skin nose, lactic dryness with manure hints, grape-like stickiness. Soft skin flavor, leather, incredibly dry, moderate citric acid that’s softly sour with dryness abounding, high attenuation. Singular, very light profile but no nuance, no depth.

Pour is insanely cloudy and murky dark peach with pale peach edges and a white head. Nose has a bit of lactic acid, musky fruits, light rubber, faint berry. Taste is cleaner, just a hint of lacto cream, lots of peach skin mixed with hint of tart cranberry. Creamy body, moderate carbonation. Not really dry, body is a bit creamy.
