Taza Stout is lavish comfort in a bottle. During the boil, we add roasted chicory root and ginger, creating coffee tones lightened by a refreshing yet subtle spiciness. After fermentation, we age the beer on organic roasted cacao nibs from Somerville-based Taza Chocolate. The result is a rich and lively chocolate finish that perfectly complements the elegance of our estery Belgian house yeast.

A bit vegetal and thin chocolate stout. The chocolate is actually a bit too mild in this and the base beer isnt roasty or robust enought. Im kind of bored and the yeasty elements are unwelcome. Average at best.

Tap at the source. Pours Coca-cola black with a brown clingy head. Roasty, bittersweet chocolate aroma. Goes down eastpy, with some bittersweet chocolate, some roast, finish a little plastic.

Tap. Opaque brown, near black with a foamy tan head that last so true sides and laces. Aromas if coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and some biscuit. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, light vanilla and wood. Medium bodied.

Dark brown color, brown head. The chocolate and the Belgian yeast are not friends. They just don’t marry well together. Odd flavors, yeasty, vegetal.

Draft at the brewery. Poured dark brown with a medium-sized tan head. Classic dry stout with some additional elements: quite herby, lots of chocolate, light spiciness. Good, but the sours and saisons are their real strength.

750ml bottle in a Night Shift glass. Pours near black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, the chicory coffee notes, dark chocolate, some light dough, and a little spiciness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the chicory, coffee, and the stout. Average texture. A pretty good beer.

Sampled on tap at the brewery. Pours a muddy dark brown, nearly black, with some ruddy, thick head. Nose has a lot of spice happening, cinnamon, ginger, mild nuts, almost peanutty, slightly vegetal, some dark chocolate, dark malt. Flavor is similar, more malt in the mouth, some dark chocolate, nutty, spice. Thin finish. Not bad.

on draft at brewery, wow this is pretty cool. A light chocolate stout without much roastyness at all. I like it.

750mL thanks to WillRunForBeer! Pours clear, but dark brown looking black in the Oerbier stemware with a a luxurious, thick reddish head. Good retention and spotty lacing. Nose is big on the cinnamon and gingerbread. Could pass for a "pumpkin" stout. Unfortunately the taste is very thin and lemon acidic. Comes across as a bit soapy but so much lemon. Feels like 4-5% abv.
