Taza Stout is lavish comfort in a bottle. During the boil, we add roasted chicory root and ginger, creating coffee tones lightened by a refreshing yet subtle spiciness. After fermentation, we age the beer on organic roasted cacao nibs from Somerville-based Taza Chocolate. The result is a rich and lively chocolate finish that perfectly complements the elegance of our estery Belgian house yeast.

Unusual stout. Slightly bitter. Spicy notes. Quite thin for a stout. Coffee undertone with a hint of chocolate, which lingers. If I had to guess, I would call this a porter more than a stout. If it were a character in a play, a puritanical New Englander. A very good porter, as a stout, not bad -- unusual but complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle via Jess P. Pours an opaque brown/black, decent amount of tan head. Aroma, cacao, esters, ginger, very bright and fresh. Body slightly thick, finish has an almost sticky sweetness, lots of cacao, chocolate, chicory. I wouldn’t seek this out in trade again, but a very nice beer.

on draft at brewery, wow this is pretty cool. A light chocolate stout without much roastyness at all. I like it.

750ml bottle in a Night Shift glass. Pours near black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, the chicory coffee notes, dark chocolate, some light dough, and a little spiciness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the chicory, coffee, and the stout. Average texture. A pretty good beer.

Tap at the source. Pours Coca-cola black with a brown clingy head. Roasty, bittersweet chocolate aroma. Goes down eastpy, with some bittersweet chocolate, some roast, finish a little plastic.

750ml bottle pours dark brown with 2 finger foamy mocha head. Nose is fruity ginger, subtle bitter chocolate, vanilla, Andes mints. Taste is ginger and nutty spice up front, slightly thin body, with some decent roasty chocolate biscotti and cocoa notes on the finish.

Black opaque body with a light brown latte head that quickly disappears. Aromas are roasted nuts and pleasant spice. Flavors are belgian yeasty byproducts, spice, herbs, and dry roastiness. Somehow I am getting some weird but interesting cola flavors from this. There’s a bitterness too that I assume is from the nibs. Mouthfeel is nothing to write home about, moderate body, moderate fizz, maybe a little too dry of a finish.
