I’m totally ruling the night in the mid afternoon. Gold pour with a medium sized white head. Strong grape and grain aroma. Grapes, strawberry, corn round out the flavors. Finishes sweet, good carbonation. Not bad at all!

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2008 Time for me to "Rule the Night" says the bottle. Straw colored with a quickly dissipating head, no retention. Grainy and sweet aroma, maybe even a little fruity. Sweet beginning with a touch of burnt sugar cookie, finish is sweet and grainy, maybe a little phenolic. Between medium and full bodied with higher than medium carbonation. Honestly, I don’t understand the low scores on this. Yes, yes, malt liquor, but if people were to try this in a blind tasting I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave completely different scores. Warning: If you let this warm up too much the taste will quickly decline and be bad. My review would be much lower if I was going off of the warm taste.

Straw color with a fizzy vanishing white head. Actually looks quite lifeless and has gone from a 2 to a 1 prior to being sniffed. Very chemical smelling. THe scents in a large chemical warehouse come to mind. No real aromas, just a mix of chemicals, esters, alcohol, acetaldeyde, solvents all strike the nose. A friend and I used to joke about the beers made by MBC and at the time Heilman’s(This brewery’s former name) made the American way - with chemicals. They seem to have perfected the aroma. Light corn syrup start, with some white grape and raisins in the middle. Sweet potatoes and corn in the finish. Linger is somewhat sweet/sour with a bitterness that kicks in late. It states "Rule The Night" on the 40 oz bottle. I don’t think anything either should or could be ruled by this except the drain of gutter. Looks like well over 25 ounces will be flushing my drain tonight.

This is one of the better malt liquors. A citrusy taste and aroma with some alcohol notes. No horrible fuselage flavor which is always a plus in the style. Good session 40. Thanks Heemer.

nighthawk, fuck ya. Thanks heemer for scoring me this awesome beast. I’m having this at 11:45 in the morning the day after the swill fest, day of the chatt fest to get a good start on the day. Yellow indeed, with a very sweet cornish aroma, very high on the sugar. Not too bad, a little bit aluminum corny, but otherwise decent. RULE THE NIGHT.

Clear, neon yellow with a small, fizzy head that is totally diminishing. Aroma of wet straw, corn, and something sweet (like cranberries). Rather sweet flavor, with nearly none of the wet grainy, stale bread notes so commonly found in the style. Slightly dry, alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied. Not too shabby,

This is the new can style. I have previously only been able to find the Ice version in my town. Pleasant surprise to get a new rating. Poured it into an Arrogant Bastard glass. Almost no head with a dark gold colored body. The aroma is corn and goose berries. There is also a hint of lemon pepper. The taste is sweet corn and mashed carrots. There is also honey and a little bit of Parmesan cheese.

Clear yellow with a small white head. THe aroma is light corn light charcoal. Not too bad so far. The flavor is medium sweet corn but nto at all offensive. Medium bitter shockingly enough. Medium body assertive carbonation.
