IslandHaole (1030), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan Oct 25, 2007 300 ml bottle for 448 Yen @ Family Mart: Chilled- A clear colorless sake with plenty of grain and some wood, scent reminds me a bit of pencil shavings with a very mild sweetness. Very mild flavor , typical dry Hyogo sake with koji and almond flavors up front and what must be the special rice "Yamadanishiki" grainy flavor in the middle. A crisp dry finish. I do admit a preferance for the lighter fruitier sake of Tohoku but the subtle dry sake of the south is growing on me! The flavor becomes a bit more pronounced as the sake warms. I recommend this be served just slightly chilled, not cold.
