3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MOFO (17) - Melbourne (Prev: Chch, NZ), AUSTRALIA - OCT 23, 2006
Tried from bottle in Nikko, 26/09/2005, a lovely area about 1.5 hours north of Tokyo. This beer was a most welcome divergence from other non-offensive Japanese macro-brews. Real grassy tones to it with a good balanced fruity taste. For me it is more in the style of a Pilsner, similar to a DAB. Beer suits the cooler climate and earthy nature of the area.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2007 Cloudy yellow. Smooth with a light orangish taste. Sister brought this back from Japan for me. Pleasently surprised.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2005
Bottled. Slightly hazy golden coloured. Aroma of green apples. Some plastic notes, but in the nice way. Fruity and light. Slightly thin.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ante (3375) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 13, 2005
Hazy golden. Very hoppy and grassy aroma. Clean and really dry hoppy flavour of wet grass. A really good pilsner!.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 omhper (15600) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2005
Bottled, thanks IslandHaole!
Hazy golden, grassy nose. Very dry and solidly malty. Coarse malt character and really bitter finish. Not overly complex, but still good, and strikingly similar to Jever.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (9997) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 1, 2005
Straw colour with a lifeless, fading head. Grassy-fruity hop aroma with bready notes underneath. Full body for style. Abundant bready malt character with grassy back notes. Not very bitter, but hugely spicy in the finish (hop spicy, that is). Stylish, offbeat lager.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 IslandHaole (1053) - Yokosuka-Shi, Kanagawa-Ken, JAPAN - NOV 20, 2004
A ddep golden color with a thick cream colored head. A soft sweet malt scent, reminds me of a Bohemian Pils. Initially sweet with a bitter middle, a mild mixed peppercorn aftertaste. I’m sure this would be an excellent pairing with sushi.
I’m not a huge lager/pilsner fan but this is good! A note of interest, the water for this brewery comes from an aquifer 40 meters underground. Nikko park is beautiful and should be a stop on your visit here!
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 eczematic (1284) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - JUN 16, 2004
kindly brought back to me by friends who were in japan, found this beer in the middle of a national park, and thought of me. a clean, malty lager something along the lines of a dortmunder. malty, honeyish smells, with a trace of DMS. dark gold, very clear. taste is bland but has at least some good firm malt. a bit soapy. traces of hersbrucker-like spice in the finish if you concentrate hard enough. aftertaste of special K. probably ok with japanese food i guess. i don’t really like japanese food i have to confess.
