3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle) Pours deep mahogany brown with a creamy, nougat coloured head. The aroma is medium malty with caramel, nuts and dark bread up front. There is also room for light toffee, cookies and chocolate from the malts. Not much aroma hops, just a whisper of wood, earth, spices, flowers and citrus. Some dried fruitiness and smokiness (phenols?) as well. The flavour is light sweet and light to medium bitter with a tiny sourish sting in the finish. The malt backbone is nice and extremely solid for a beer with 4.6%. Bread, light caramel, chocolate and dried fruits. Light resinous hops with a light citric ending. The mouthfeel is soft and round with friendly and small bubble-ish carbonation. Resin, chocolate and dark bread at the end. Light to medium bodied (more medium than light).

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle from Systembolaget. Must say this is one big disappointment for me. Had big expectation on this brown ale. Ok, it has a fair amount from burnt sweet malt, nuts and bread in the aroma. But I had expected even more of that in the flavor. But, no! And I would liked it more bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sturdy and bitter. Thick tinted head that lasts. Very complex aroma, rich and fullbodied, but really a bit too much of the cellary oak barrel bit. Goes well with really fatty food, or a hot asian dish perhaps. Maybe it’s best on its own or with some crackers with Stilton cheese.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear reddish brown beer with lasting beige head. Roasted malts and hops on the nose. Sweet taste ends with decent bitterness and has some roasty notes too. I don’t think the strong bitterness suit the style perfectly.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear amber color with a white head. Malty aroma with a lot of flowery hops. More of the same in the flavor. The Amarillo hops is more present than the Fuggles. There’s a distinct bitterness in the end that is nicely balanced with the other flavors. This is not a wow-beer but is nicely brewed and feels coherent and balanced.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark amber. Good size off-white head that slowly fades to a rocky lace. Roasty malt, hop aroma. Somewhat watery. Mild dry, bitter, roast finish. Decent lawn mowing brew, but nothing special at all. No charactor.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: SEP 10, 2010 Bottle. Amber, white head. One of the best beers from the Nilso Oscar brewery, but still not very good... nice hoppiness, with some crystal and chocolate maltqualities in the background. The problem with this beer is the usual strange vegtable thing that i find in all Nils Oscars beers.
