2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
330ml bottle from Cellars, Western Road, Billericay, drunk today. Altbier. Clear amber-orange. Pours good white-yellow head, small bubbles, lasting well. Mid carb. Aroma - Dryish lageriness, bit yeasty and lots of fruity (berries & dark fruit, with a touch of citrus peel), toffeeish & bready malt, with some musky spice. Bit of solventy fruit & nutty alcohol. Quite like the aroma on this; unusual, but interesting. Unfortunately, the taste doesn’t live up to the aroma; the fruity toffee bready malt flavour is too OTT, without any depth or balance to it (underhopped; hardly any bitterness on the finish, or any hop flavours) and the body is too thin. The fruit flavours seem too perfumey on the tongue and one-dimensional. Bit of an unpleasant yeast too. Taste just seems to fade away on the finish & little aftertaste. This beer needs fleshing out and the cloying malt & perfumey palate need toning down.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
What happened when they did this beer? The scent is not over-strong. The taste is very metallic and not good. The aftertaste is not really there. Do not try this beer. Yikes!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, rich gold, effervescent, with a moderate, creamy white head. Lightly toasted, bready malt nose, some berries, suggestions of tangy fruit. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly dried bread, light woody bitterness, light leaves, some berries, background dirty grass. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, toasty grass, light toast, light fruit. Very pleasant stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle, Tomlinsons Inverness. Malty aroma, slightly peaty. Dark golden in colour - a bit like the colour of your urine after a heavy one the night before. Lovely elastic palate, expands around the mouth. Not too bitter, nice and gentle. Something of a bran flake about it. I really enjoyed this. Looking forward to catching up with the rest of the Nils Oscar style roster.
