Nice rich aroma, sweet chocolate. Black with tan white head. Great taste - rich chocolate, lots of malt, some roast. Very drinkable, alcohol disguised. Great. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Dec 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head. Sweet fruity body with a light alcohol note, sweet chocolate, caramel, Loads of coffee, and burnt malt. Interesting. MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Dec 23, 2008 bottle shared at December Houston Tasting. Pours dark with almost no head other than some tan bubbles. Nose is of roast malt and some coffee. Taste is of roast coffee. Mouthfeel is medium and dry finish. Prefer a thicker mouthfeel though. Not bad KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Dec 20, 2008 Bottle from MaltOMeal at the December Houston tasting. Thanks! Pours a thin, dark mahogony with an aroma of faint molasses plastic syrup and sweet cedar. Flavor is sparkling light chocolate with an earthy cinammon finish. Average mouthfeel. Not bad, but too light bodied for my taste. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Dec 17, 2008 Looks almost completely black in the glass with a yeasty light brown medium to large sized head. Nose is sour malt, some chocolate and roasted coffee. Really muted. Crazy mouthfeel, smooth and medium but tiny little bubbles caress the tongue like nothing I have ever felt. Taste is mild and roasted with some milk chocolate and more of the sour malt, kind of milky and creamy. I could chug a bucket of this. bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Dec 15, 2008 Updated: Dec 20, 2008Bottle thanks to Maltomeal at RB Houston Dec Impy Stout tasting. Black, no head, filtered and not quite opaque. Nose of burnt mallts and alcohol. Thin body is the first thing you notice, then the alcohol hits. After the initial alcohol flavors, the burnt malts, sweet tastes come out. Overall a good beer but not life changing. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Dec 10, 2008 Updated: Jan 6, 2009Holy crap. Does it get any better than this? This beer is freakinnear perfect. Dark with a light tan small quickly dissipating head. Smells like roasted malts and chocolate. Tastes sweet and smooth as silk like chocolate roasted hops and malts. Finish was chocolate. I would say this is equal to or better than Sam Smiths Oatmeal Stout. Good old Scandinavians, they know how to brew beer. If you could bottle sex with Swedish Supermodels.... this is how it would taste.
