Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

Pour is dark with a small but dark tan head. Aroma is of darkly roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is burnt with light bitterness and maltiness. Has a very creamy mouthfeel which finishes nicely with cocoa. Blended fairly well. Good brew.

Black with bubbly off-white ring for a head. Nose is a nice combination of tobacco, coffee, and chocolate with a little bit of sweet dried fruit in there. Sweet flavor of coffee, smoke, chocolate, and sugary fruit. Smooth medium body that is slightly thin. Good stout, if perhaps a little standard.

black, light tan ring. vibrant tart and roasty nose with notes of strong black coffee, chocolate, and charred fruit. very roasty and charred flavors but with slightly distracting vegital notes...also, chocolately overtones and some lactic tang. smooth mouthfeel...really quite roasty, really.

Black in colour with ruby edges, long lasting creamy tan coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is very roasty, some chocolate, good sweetness, light alcohol and some espresso. The flavour is roasty, burnt, sweet, dark chocolate, coffee and light alcohol. Sweet roasty mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, malty and sweet.

This is quite nice, lots of roast but I’m not sure that it has the body to last another three years.

330ml bottle obtained in a trade with Engelsmann back in November 2005, thanks Martin.
Opened on March 2, 2008.
Best before January 2011.

330 ml bottle @ Poirotti, Helsinki. Very dark brown color, low tan head. Dark malty aroma, coffee. Lots of juicy dark malts and licorice in the taste. Well-balanced, with just enough of everything, but it doesn’t really stand out among Imperial stouts.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small diminishing foamy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, espresso and roasted malt along with light green hops and some cream. Flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, green hops and a bit of alcohol. Roasty, bitter coffee finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Very good stuff and a nice example of the style.

33cL Bottle. Nice salty roast. Oak and chocolate. Spicy. Simple, molassed and fresh. Pour deep black-brown with a frothy build of creamy tan. Flavor is piquant. A sharp, acidic roast. Not creamy. Biting and roasted. A nip of caramel. Toasted. A simple, singular flavor. But, nice, crisp and clean. Dry. Nicely fermented. Delicious and well-done. No overwhelming alcohols.
