Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, caramel, nutty), light hops (grass), heavy yeast (leather) with notes of toffee, brown sugar, and dates. Medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. Flavors of cocoa and milk. Pours black with no head and good lacing. Flavor of burnt malts, chocolate, caramel, vanilla and tobacco. Palate is sticky and ashy. Aroma of chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, and a touch of smoke. Pours a reasonably thick dark black that allows light through, one finger creamy tan head. Not as robust as I expected. The aroma is roasty, coffee, soy sauce, molasses. The flavor was roasty, soy sauce, coffee, a little sweet, nice waxy finish. The palate is nice and full and velvety on the tongue.
