Mar 9, 2008 Dark pour, very average brew. Chocolate and slight coffee. Malts, roast, and very very light hint of beef/maet. Didnt go down smooth, but was an overall descent drink.

Mar 8, 2008 Mahogany body with 1/8th inch khaki head. I viewed this beer, inhaled deeply, put the brew to my lips and took a sip. Where did the "Imperial" in the "Stout" go??? This was a weak interpretation. Just not seeing the 97%. It was a pretty good porter. Maybe I got one that was mislabeled!!!

Mar 8, 2008 Bottle: Courtesy of renhed. Dark brown in color with no head. Chocolate and roasted malts in the nose with some dark fruit notes as well. Medium bodied, mildly dry and full of malty goodness. Dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and plums are all melded well together and compliment each other nicely.

Mar 1, 2008 Very dark body with a small soft light brown head. Nose of rich chocolate brownies and caramel. The hops were a bit strong in the finish, could mellow a bit, body was lighter then a lot of the imp. stouts around here, but this was at a much lower ABV also. Good chocolate flavors with a charred flavor towards the finish.

Feb 28, 2008 Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel and sweet dark fruits. Flavor of sweet and chocolate malts. Finishes with bitter chocolate. Medium bodied, low carbonation and pretty drinkable.

Feb 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, powered cocoa, and a hint of caramel. Flavor is coffee, rich roasted malts, bitter chocolate and some light smoke. medium bodied with a chalky finish.

Feb 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours what appears to be black, but is actually a deep mahogany color when held to the light. The tan head was barely around long enough to check the color. The aroma had quite a bit of roasted character joined by a little coffee, moderate chocolate, and a hint of dark fruits. The flavor is roasted malt early, the sweetness from the chocolate flavors appears in the middle, while the roassted character reappears in the finish. Some dark fruits are also in the mix of flavors. Medium bodied, could use a bit more viscosity. Not bad.

Feb 27, 2008 Bottle. Rich dark chocolate, well roasted malts, toasted tobacco leaf, wet leather, espresso on the nose. The malt component is quite nice: roasted, but not so charred as to take on an astringent and bitter quality. Pours nearly opaque brown with a decent lived khaki head leaving excellent sticky lacing. Less flavor on the tongue than I had hoped based on the nose. Toasted vanilla bea, spent coffee grounds, bitter chocolate. Decent, but nothing too spectacular. Medium, leaning toward full bodied. A good, but not overly, amount of carbonation for the style. Finishes with a mellow roasted malt quality.
