Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Black pour with a 0.5 cm creamy head. Mild sweet nuttiness and roastiness on the arona, a hint of alcohol. Light carbonation, quite thin mouthfeel. Slight sweetness, lactose, light roast on the finish. Mild overall and not very roasty or distinct.

Black with lovely large brown head. Aroma has roasted malt, coffee and liquerice. Flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Not the most powerful imperial stout. But still very nice.

TheCheeseman strikes again! Pours pitch black with mostly no head. Light brown bubbles hug the edges of the glass. Aroma is of alot of dark fruits, and dark sweet malts, with a curious noticeable mintiness to it. The flavor is very sweet, good dose of syrupy malts, definite caramel, light slightly bitter chocolate, and mild roast. Nice body to it, good flavor. More on the side of a sweeter stout, but not overly so. Pretty tasty.

Bottle purchased in Atlanta. Poured black with a short lasting, light brown head. Aroma of slightly sweet chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel/nuts. Flavor was heavy on the roasted malt, with a solid hoppy finish. A light dusting of chocolate. Only a hint of sweetness. Low carbonation and a thinnish mouthfeel. About average for the style for me.

Bottle. Solid foreign stout. Dark brown body. Big bubbles in a light tan head. The aroma reveals roasted malts, powdered cocoa and dark, unsweetened choclate and hints of coffee. The flavor is light to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and moderately acidic. The body is the texture of root beer — watery with lots of fizz. Chalky finish. Tasty.

11.2 ounce bottle: Deep brown pour with a sparse soap bubble head. The nose is dominated by dusty cocoa powder and unsweetened chocolates. The bitter chocolate follows through to the body - giving the beer a chalky texture. Grainy notes abound. Hints of stale smoke and bitter coffee join the mix on the back of the tongue. Interesting.

11.2 oz bottle, no date. Black with a small ran head, fading to a ring. Hazelnuts, milk chocolate, sweet caramel, with some underlying roasted grains and coffee. Flavor is not near as sweet--much more roasty and ashy, especially in the finish. That’s not to say it isn’t sweet, but the roast is a much larger component here. A bit raisiny as well. Seems like there’s even some lactose in here. Low carbonation with a creamy medium body. Pretty darn good.
