Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

Bottle. The color is near black and the head is brown and short lasting. Aroma of heavily rosted malt with notes of salted liquorice, coffee, raisins/dried fruit, cocoa, smoke and fruity hops. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, salted liquorice, raisins, smoke, caramel and bitter hops. Great and well balanced Imperial Stout. 7% alcohol.

Bottle from Capone’s. Deep blackish pour with 2-finger tan head and good lacing. Aroma is roasty dark malt, chocoff, some molasses, and some PVC wafts. The taste is roasty dark malty, with some brown sugar, coffee, tart cherry, and chocolate notes. Not a terribly dense palate, and the parts just don’t seem to meld together for me. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by the huge Impy Stouts, but this one fails to wow me.

bottle....appearance: semi thin dark brown cola pour with a thin light tan head....aroma: dark fruits, burnt roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and some coffee rinds....taste: bitter cofee, lots of roasted malt that leaves a bitter finish in the end. mouthfeel was way too thin being an imperial stout.....was expecting a little more from this one.

Very classic and wellmade imp stout. Black but with a minimal fast disappearing brown head. Heavy malty nose of roasted malts and salty liquirice. Flavor is bitter from roasted malts and has notes of roasted coffee and english liquirice. Not too many supprises, just super solid.

Has all the makings of a good imperial stout, a complex aroma with bourbon wood (vanilla), roasted malt (espresso, ash), dark fruit, chocolate and liqourice, with a rounded & balanced taste and long-lasting finish. But it is TOO smooth, almost no carbonation and no rough edges. A very well-made beer, but too polished to really be spectacular.

25cl bottle from De Bierkoning. This is fantastically brewed beer, if I do say so myself. Aroma is huge and rich dark coffee, unprecedented complexity and volume for a 7% beer, and every bit as balanced and luxurious as one could possibly hope. A similarly large and profound taste backs it up, the coffee sitting backseat to pure dark chocolate, very dry but very drinkable. A masterfully done beer.
