Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

(Bottle) Pours dark to black with red hints. Roasted to smokey malt aroma with liquorice and dark, nutty bread. Undertones of chocolate, fudge, burned coffee, syrup, polish and tiny hints of fruits and hops. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Roasted , salty flavour with coffee, liquorice and some chocolate. Small undertones of fruits and hops. Some bitterness. Medium body. A nice "light" Impy.

Deep red black, thin beige head and moderate condition. Intensly rich chocolate aroma. Good sweet malt, liquorice and coffee in the mouth and a nicely judged blend of coffee bitterness and chocolate sweetness in the finish.

Bottle - January 2007. Thanks Omhper for sharing! Black with some ruby hues. Medium to small tan head, retention needs to be improved. Aroma is penetrating fruit, plums, vanilla, rum, very nice. Taste is fruity, slightly acrid, some bitter chocolate, a bit of tobacco and some dark sugar. A hint of earthy hops and rocherfort cheese as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium, a bit drier than most imperial stouts. A nice, warming pint. Enjoyable.

0,33 l bottle. Almost black with small tan head. Sweetish, malty, roasted and vinous aroma with salty licorice, coffee, dark fruits, juniper, toffee and some charcoal. The same elements continue in the flavor with dryer charcoal finish. Some caramel and just right bitterness. Excellent!

2003 bottle. Thanks to Madsberg for this one. Refrigerated. There is just a thin slice of tan head floating above this black oily brew. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and dark caramel in the aroma. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter with some drying in the finish. The palate is creamy smooth with soft carbonation.

Dark brown with a tiny tan head. The aroma is roast, chocolate, raisin and cherry. The flavor is milk chocolate, molases, cola, brown sugar and coffee. Medium/light body with soft carbonation. Quite quaffable, not very imperial.

Pours black with a thick brown head. Sweet smoky aroma. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt and a touch of fruit... Thick and oily feel, leaves a nice bitter finish. Another quite fine IS from Sweden, got this one along with Slottskällans from my friend.

330ml bottle. Black brown-tinged body. Missing head. Rich smell of roasted coffee beans and liquorice. Full-bodied plummy taste with some other kinds of dark fruits. Lingering aftertaste of yeasty bitterness. A solid brew that worked well as a dessert during a dinner party at Oliver Twist in Stockholm(01.12.2006).
