Commercial Description:
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout is brewed only in a limited edition. Also Nils Oscar Imperial Stout was awarded as the best beer in the world. This beer is brewed with many varieties of hops and malt, nothing saved to make the stout full of character. Imperial Stout is best enjoyed combined with the dessert but works wonderfully with oysters. The Nils Oscar Imperial Stout can be enjoyed today but preferably mature a couple of years.

On bottle 0,33l at Oliver Twist, Stockholm 1 Dec 2006. Completely black. A tiny brown head. Sweet malty aroma. Rich flavour of coffee with fruity hints. A lasting aftertaste with a mixture of coffee and roastedness. Well rounded.

(03 thanks Springslicker) As close to black as you can get. An aroma of light alcohol and chocolate. A dry chocolate flavor with just a hint of a sweet finish. I know thats odd but that’s what I got. A light hint of coffee. A mouthfeel that is slightly grainy but good. A very good beer.

2003 Vintage (thanks, Springslicker!). Black, thin beige head. Sweet, fruity aroma - rasin and prune, plus cherry. Sme fruity notes in the flavor, as well, mixed with coffee and dark chocolate, and smooth cognac flavor, too. Well made and extremely smooth. Dryish finish.

Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Malty aroma of chocolate, caramel, molasses, moderate smoke, and a hint of roasted grain. Pours a dark garnet with a quite a bit of transparency and a minimal tan head. The flavor starts with chocolate and some light roasted malts. There is a light smokiness in the background. Finishes with some light coffee. The mouthfeel is rather thin with minimal carbonation. This is more like a porter than an Imperial Stout. A decent beer, but this falls short in my expectations for an Imperial Stout.

33 CL OZ bottle via oh6gdx . Pours a dark brown/almost black with a small tan head. Nose is mild with some chocolate, fruity esters (plum & raisin) and perhaps some lactose. Taste is very roasty and mostly roasted chocolate, a little vanilla, a bit of butterscotch and coffee. A little salty. Thin/medium body. Moderate carbonation. Somewhat dry finish. Very nice. I wish i had a few more of these!

I’m a Nils Oscar fan, but this Impie doesn’t push all the buttons for me. Looks great with a dark mahogany body under an attractive cinammon coloured head. Smells of liquorice, salt and tar, with strong bitter choclate and a puff of smoke. Not a lot of sweetness, but plenty of dry bitterness in the middle and end. A little thin, with the alcohol heat too up front for me. Good but not great.

Dark beer with a thin brown head that left lots of lacing. Brown sugar and coffee nose. Molassess, licorice, roast coffee bean, with an almost celery leaf finish. Nice, easy drinking Impy stout. Thanks to my secret santa for the bottle.
