gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England May 3, 2009 Pours dark black, thin tan head. Aroma is very malty and sweet, oats, some alcohol. Taste is thick, meaty, almost gravy like in texture. A sweetness of boiled sweets balances out the malty bitterness, also an odd taste a bit like iron filings. Malty and bitter lingering finish. Pretty damn good. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Apr 29, 2009 Tap @ The Rover. Black with a beige lasting head. The aroma is superb, plenty of cocoa, coffee, just hints of licorice. It’s full bodied yet very drinkable, salty, balanced, with an almost endless lingering end. ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 25, 2009 Pours black with very creamy tan head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits, toffee, and dark chocolate. Flavor of sweet molasses, raisins, roasted coffee, and cocoa. Minimal bitterness. Medium bodiedfor trhe style with moderate carbonation. Solid, it didn’t blow me away. (11.2 oz bottle) oldno7 (135), Spokane, Washington, USA Apr 24, 2009 Pours very dark brown with no head.
Has a pleasant aroma of malt. plum, mollasses, and caramel. The flavor of this beer is amazing, I just cant get enough, its smooth, has good body and good carbination. With traces of coffee, roasted malts, semi sweet chocolate and brown suger. MAP (1085), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Apr 19, 2009 11.2 Oz bottle purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlado. So I though
my nose was playing tricks on me. I just had Mephistopheles and Oscar
smells very similar. There is a big whole whallop of coffee in the
aroma, followed by some spice. But the flavor on this one is so
delicate and fluffy. It just goes down so smooth and ends with a very
good chocolate flavor. SO how come this isn’t labeled as a foreign
stout? mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 13, 2009 [1916-20081220] 11.2floz bottle. Burnt coffee ground roast aroma. Dark brown black body with a medium-lasting creamy tan head. Roasted grounds and heavy malt flavour has lots of burnt roasty fullness. Full body. Good and drinkable.
(w/ jerc) PorterPounder (3133), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2009 Orlando, Fl. - Knightly Spirits - 11.2 oz bottle. Dark black pour with some purple tints - light khaki head that diminishes pretty quickly. Pleasant aroma of coffee, chocolate with hints of molasses. Good, solid stout flavor with plenty of bitter coffee notes, some bitter bakers unsweetened chocolate and just a hint of dates and raisins. Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. Very enjoyable and not overpowering. RangledeFreak (23), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 11, 2009 Bottle. Black color, with a large brown head. The nose was sweet and malty, coffee and a hint of smoke. Taste roasted malt, with coffee, roasted coffee(maybe a bid tobacco) with some dryed fruit short of hiding. Great aroma a bid disapointing taste for an imperial stout.
