aru (105), Smørum, Denmark Feb 12, 2009 Well, well I would have expected a more heavy impression from this Stout. The color is true black with a little brown lasting head. The aroma is light with roasted notes. The roasted tasted notes are also found in the flavor, however the palette is disappointing thin for such a beer. edelbrauer (57), Rügen, Germany Feb 11, 2009 bottle, pours balck with a nice little head on top. Grain, liquorize and roast malts in the nose, some dark fruit in the back. Flavor is very elegant grainy again but soft, only little sweet liquorize, dark chocolate, maybe some coffee and notes of prunes. The palate is excellent, perfectly balanced, it glides over the tongue, not at all offensive, short lasting aftertaste with a mineralic finish. I enjoy it a lot ! danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Feb 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice black hue with a deep chocolate edge. Loads of nice chocolate to the nose and a faint coffee. Nice roasted malt flavors, pretty good bittersweet chocolate flavors, some saltiness at times. Mouth is nicely full. Very long and dry finish. Excellent foreign stout. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Feb 7, 2009 Bottle: Poured a deep black color color stout with a medium foamy head with good retention and very good lacing. Aroma of lightly sweet black chocolate with notes of dry roasted malt. Taste is a nice combination between some back chocolate with lightly sweet dry coffee notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well done but creamier body would have improve enjoyment of this beer. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Feb 6, 2009 Updated: Feb 7, 2009Bottle. Pours an opaque brown with a half finger tan head and spotty lacing. The nose is chocolate, light roasted malt and dark fruits. The taste is ashy cocoa, salty dark fruits and roasted coffee beans. Lighter mouth feel for the style - would be so much better with a full palate. Pretty good stout, but not worth the price tag.. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Feb 5, 2009 THOUGHTS: My first Swedish beer. A nice chocolaty beer. Definitely more of a foreign stout than an impy stout. Nice, but not the best foreign stout I’ve ever had, I thought. But then, oops. It actually was nicer than I thought. I just had it a little too cold at first.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark brown that was black in the glass and dark red when held to the light. It had an average tan head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy coffee, chocolate syrup and cocoa powder along with some dark, sour fruit. The flavor started sweet, lightly bitter and sour; and finished sour and bitter with and average duration. There was both milk and dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and dark, slightly sour fruit, then a little bitter chocolate. The medium to full body was slightly oily, but also creamy with fizzy carbonation and a chalky and light to moderately astringent finish.
