RCL (855), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Apr 27, 2008 Black pour. Cocoa powder followed by a long licorice finish. Excellent length. Very tasty.
UlrikNissen (1), Denmark does not count May 10, 2008 Very good stout.
Almost black, with creamy head.
Especially good on the apperance and aroma, weak point is palate. pint_size (772), Austin, Texas, USA May 2, 2008 4-5-08 bottle
Black with a thin tan head and lacing. Smell is chocolate and marshmallows with some burnt roasted hints in there. Still, it is fairly muted. Flavor has some nice roasted dark chocolate to it. Thin palate but not awful by any means. DenverLogan (369), Oceanside, California, USA May 1, 2008 Mohagany color...small brown head. Bitter chocolate and coffee aroma. Flavors of dark roasted malt, molassas, carob, light tobacco, black pepper, clove, chalk. notalush (1843), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Apr 27, 2008 Yeah, not quite an imperial stout, so the foreign stout distinction is apt - dark brown/ruby beer, with a small, soapy lace - interesting aroma of cocoa, vanilla bean, tobacco, and an earthy, almost briny character that reminds me of seaweed salad (I’m not crazy, I smell it damn you!) - it’s actually a wee bit nutty and salty up front, but this quickly makes way for chocolate sweetness, which itself is swiftly undercut by tobacco and leafy herb bitterness - lingering notes of hazelnut - a very mild background acidity - some very interesting earthy components to this one - just different enough to stand out - but I swear something about this reminds me of seaweed salad.
