Aroma of dark chocolate, molasses, roasty malts, licorice, espresso, cream and faint prune. Opaque ebony in color, head is a faint ring of light tan. Flavor profile is unusual for the style but extremely well-balanced and refined, with aspects of dark, semi-sweet chocolate, latte and toffee, anise and other faint spices, showing hints of roasty bitterness towards the finish. Largely dry, smooth mouthfeel, body is medium-full. Not nearly as powerful or even as complex as some Imperials, but certainly nice in its own right. More of a British or historical take on the style, seemingly. JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

Dark caramel, hints of roasted malt and dark chocolate with a little gastric juice and grain.Slick smooth and fairly light feel. Flavors are balance and full. Mild roast and dark caramel flavors. Some hint of cola. Mild salt water toffee. Balanced and a brew that tweaks the senses, but doesn’t present a big mind melting performance. leaparsons (4759), Leicester, Leicestershire, England

Rich toffee and molasses aroma with some burnt toast and a some raisins. Color is a very dark brown with a hint of red around the edges. Medium bodied with lots of roasted malts, some bitter chocolate and lots of hops bitterness. The bitterness lingers quite a while at the finish with some light coffee and dry cocoa. A surprisingly bitter stout and a pretty good one. Thanks to etowneraser for this one. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a very dark brown color with a tan head that quickly dissipated, leaving no lacing on the glass. Aroma of fudge, chocolate, roast, star anise, and cognac. Sweet, roasty, chocolate taste up front, with a dry, earthy, lightly bitter hop finish. Smokey with light alcohol notes. Thanks Mads! tiggmtl (4312), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
