3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BeerBiker (1412) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 11, 2007
Vintage 2006, 1 year in cellar. [Sampled to the 50-day in Fangel.] Indeed a great beer after one year in darkness, which gave a nice sweet and smooth flavor of caramel, toffee some spices and alcohol. Yeast, dried fruits and a medium finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 1, 2007
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a warm, clear, orangey brown with a small, beige head leaving a pretty lacework. Sweet aroma of overripe fruit and caramel with a lightly spicy edge. Quite full-bodied, sweetish malty with notes of caramel, overripe fruit and aroma hops. There’s a vague bitterness in the finish. Excellent. 271107

bottled, rbesg07.purple, not much of a head, golden syrup aroma, pretty overwhelmed by sweetness, might need some more aging but the 05 version was already pretty good at the same time the year before

Bottle at RBESG 2007. Lovely spicy hoppy beer, with good pepper. Having looked at other ratings I thought I had got this one wrong, but MagicDave I see also got the hops on this.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MesandSim (7118) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 30, 2007
A Sim rate (RBESG tasting): Nice aroma of licquorice, dark chocolate and a tinge of perfume. The flavour is quintesentially wintery with licquorice, black cherry and fizzy sherbert. Very impressive fizzy palate which calls for an unusual ’4’.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KnutAlbert (5186) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 30, 2007
Lovely take on the traditional Nordic Christmas beer. Lots of maltiness, some spices, sweet, but not sticky sweet. Some spicy hops contribute to a great beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 17, 2007
Brought this one back to Australia to enjoy mid-winter, and its loads better than when was released, with the maltiness becoming more rounded and soft. Pours clear dark brown/amber, with a creamy small tan head. Great aroma, heaps of toasted malts and toffee sweetness, lighter undertones of cinnamon, earth, plummy esters. Its just great really. Full body, sweet but not cloying, huge malt profile... brown sugar, toffee, caramel, chocolate, custard... this stuff is amazing. Soft hop bitterness is there but not providing much flavour. Finish give the impression that you just took a huge mouthful of a home-made plum pudding with brandy custard about 2 minutes prior. Perhaps some liquorice too. Amazing stuff.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rastacouere (6045) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 31, 2007
Another bottle from Per’s reserves. Tak! Dark caramel coloured ale with minimal head. Well structured malts provide flowing caramel notes. A rather fruity one with earth coated raisins, milk coffee, figs and pear flavors, mild pepper spiciness. Fairly nutty flavor profile as well, followed by a fitting, but considerable dose of bittering hops, quite leafy and earthy. Not the most defined beer, seems a little shy at this point and I don’ think age will help on that. Less opened than previous NO Jülol. Still a rather active carbonation, medium-full palate, smooth, but uniform and very active bubbles.
