duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 25, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2007 Bottle. Lots of dark fruit notes, yet it isn’t overly sweet. Caramel comes through aswell, dark fruit, and also some lightly citric hops in the finish. Really pleasant and with a decent lingering bitter finish. Nice.

Dark red with an off-white head that quickly disappears. Somewhat sweet malt aroma with berries and a little spices. Flavor likewise, with a nice lingering bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation. Alcohol well hidden. Perhaps a bit plain.

Miksu (4938) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - NOV 13, 2006
Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2006. Reddish brown color with small head. The aroma is sweet, malty, biscuity, nutty, caramelly and toffeish with hints of melon. The flavor is sweet and bisquity with some caramel. The maltiness is good but this is too sweet.

sayravai (4667) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 29, 2008
(Bottled) Hazy, darkish red-amber with a small, tanned head. Port-raisiny aroma with lots of dried, dark fruit and cardamom spiciness. Flavor of chocolate cake, dark fruit and some caramely-malty sweetness. Medium body with soft, lowish carbonation. At 2 years, this is probably close to its peak. A nice and christmasy brew with nice dark-dried fruitiness.

gyllenbock (4433) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 9, 2012
Bottle. (thanks to my friend Balder for this one) BF dec 2012. Brownish/yellow with a small head. Rather vinous, it reminded a bit of Madeira. Dried fruit, some butter, toffee, nuts, some dust. Not much carbonation left. Also some light spices. Still drinkable. I wonder how it tasted 6 years ago? Now I finally have sampled all the vintages of NO Julöl.

Grovlam (4152) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 23, 2007
Bottle. Head was small and slightly off-white creamy. Color was brown with a clear sparkling body. Aroma was raisin, prune, fruit, caramel, rye bread, almond, licorice. Some Christmas spice can also be detected in nose and mouth. Medium boded with a soft carbonation and light alcohol texture. Flavor was mostly sweet, but light notes of bitterness balances this one. Nice sweet finish. Great Christmas beer.
