Bottle. Pours a nice orange-brownish colour with a medium well lasting beige head. Soft aroma of roasted malt, some spices and dark fruits. The flavour has a soft toasty maltiness, some dark fruits and spices, caramel and hops. Roastish bitter finish with a slight citrus touch. A good Christmas brew but the Julöl is better though.

Red-golden with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has roasted malt and a bit of aroma hops. The flavour has a nice malty profile with loads of roasted malt, notes of caramel, a bit of aroma hops and a nice citrussy bitter finish. It’s a nice christmas beer. 1859

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2006 First rating.
Bottle around Christmas 2005.
To be honest I didn’t think this one was very special compared to the regular "Kalasöl". Maybe they just put a new label on for Christmas? Sure it’s still a good, perhaps even great, beer, but shouldn’t be called a Christmas beer by my standards.

Second rating.

Sour and hoppy scent, some stables with horse droppings, citrus. Copper color, tan head. Skunky bitter old papery cardboard taste. Dry and oxidized. A bit hin mouthfeel. Some citrus hoppy taste.

Cognac-coloured beer with small rim left. Quite hopped first impression with grassy EU-hops and pilsner malts. Malts, sweet tea of limetea; now, where’s the alcohol? Lightl, grist slickness. This is some kind of tisane without tannines - and without alcohol.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2013 Bottled 27/04/13. A reddy brown coloured beer with a little off-white head. A toasty fruity lager. Dry and malty. Nide fruits and plenty of character. A good beer of its type. Score 3.3

Deep copper red with no head. It’s extremely grainy with plenty of biscuit malts in aroma and more so in its flavour, and it’s very tasty for it.

As always with Niels Oscars, a real good malty flavor and aroma. Yellow brew, medium head. A little thin.

Bottle. Clear cooper brown colour with a medium light beige head. Lots of sweet malt and caramel in aroma. Not much hops. Flavour is rich malty with very light spices and a touch of hops. Bread like and smooth. Not very xmas like though.

Svesse (7765) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - DEC 13, 2008
Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 2 Dec 2008. Reddish brown colour with firm, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, toffee, dark bread, dark fruit and orange peel. Malty, slightly smoky nose with notes of caramel, toffee, ryvita, dark fruit and hints of spices. Nice balanced with a medium, spicy bitterness in the finish. In short: caramel and toffee with a citrus peel twist.
