Miksu (1244), Jyväskylä, Finland Sep 28, 2007 Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. Dark reddish brown color. Malt, beechwood smoke and leather in the aroma. Sweetish, malty, chocolatey, woody-smoky and slightly caramelly flavor. Drying smoky finish with tar and bitter chocolade. Strong flavor, yet balanced and very tasty. pilsnerrogge (1577), Finspång, Sweden Dec 14, 2007 Bottled Dark red/brown, almost black. Fine head. Aroma is smoke, coal, ash and meat. Smoked, ashy but well balanced flavour. Long, smoke dry finish. Very drinkable. rickgordon (3060), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 21, 2007 Bottled.
Near black with rich bubbly head. Woody smokey aroma with hints of chocolate and dried fruits. Flavour is very balanced with smoked birch dominating the malts. Superb flavour profile, where smoke plays first violin, and dark flavour characteristics comes second. There is a little hint of chocolate and dark fruits in flavour, where the smokiness contributes with greatness. Aftertaste is a bit ashy - as it usually is. Great beer! bager (2027), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 30, 2008 Bottled @ RBESG Grand Tasting 2008. A bit hazy and deep amber coloured with a medium sized head. Nice and smokey and really well balanced. Easy drinkeable without getting anonymous. JorisPPattyn (4262), Antwerpen, Belgium Dec 6, 2007 Red-shot, brown-black beer with dark beige, small head, leaving lace. Sumptously smoked nose, in the best Schlenkerla style. Sweet - suggesting restsugars, even rosewater aroma. Smoked ham. Sweet-smoked, tasting as a honey-cured smoked ham. Retronasal again honey-covered smoked meat with a typical smoked/sulphury streak. Medium bodied, smooth. Very nice smoked, thanks to Dirk - and Thomas.
