Egon (269), Gothenburg, Sweden Apr 21, 2008 Bottle. Dark-red to black with beige head. Smoke and roasted malt, a bit dry. Quite sweet but the smoke dominates for me. Medium body on the thin side. Dry smoke in after taste.
Magic_dave6 (3536), London, England Jul 22, 2008 Bottle at the RBESG08 Grand tasting. Alround rating: Light smokey mainly roasty notes that dominate, thin and a bit bitter for the style. Doggythedog (919), Split, Croatia Jul 13, 2008 Bottle at the RBESG08 Poured a murky red brown body. Very smokey nose, pancetta. Same continues into the taste... smoke, pancetta, some roast. Great smoke character. thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Bottle @ the RBESG08 Grand Tasting.
Pours deep mahogany with a small, creamy, off-white film head. Aroma is sweet, quite a lot of smoke and medium roasted. Okay mouthfeel, perhaps a touch on the thin side. Flavour is soft, some chocolate, well roasted with lots of smoke. Just a bit too much smoke with too little mouthfeel. pivnizub (3638), Porúří, Germany Jul 12, 2008 Bottle (RBESG 2008): Clear, reddish-amber coloured, small, persistent beige head; smoked meat, roast malt and dried fruits in the nose; quite dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied for abeer of 6.0%; dry bitter and smoky-malty finish with a touch of vanilla. Good, easy-drinking smoked...... cgarvieuk (2160), Edinburgh, Scotland Jul 11, 2008 Bottle at RBESG08 ... deep brown black ... roast malt nose ... again roast malt , my notes dont mention any smokeyness but i was probvably 3 sheets to the wind by this point in the day.
