Thanks to Kölschtrinker for that one. Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass deep black, nice small head. Starts not as strong as exspected, intense malty with fine earthy notes, mild smokey. Finish with hints of liquorice. Well balanced and quite drinkable for a porter. Good!

Bottle from Systembolaget. Quite OK. Smoke dominates both aroma and taste, along with roasted malts and hints of chocolate and coffee. Pairs well with pulled pork.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2014 Bottle from Kris Wines. I’ve kept this for about 18 months. It’s mature really nicely in the bottle. Colour is dark opaque very dark brown, almost no head. Nose is lack coffee, very lactic, black sugar, sweet, loads of dark chocolate. Taste is sweet, very black coffee, loads of dark chocolate, lactic milky, some nice maple wood smoke, log fire smoked meatiness. . Beautifully balanced Swedish porter. Little bit of saltines in the nose and flavour. Balance is beautiful. Aligns along side Carniegie porter. Lovely rich black coffee, lots of dark chocolate with one plummy black fruit and sweetness.

Aroma: The smell is full of woody smoke but well balanced with deep coffee aromas and dark chocolate. A distant sweetness from dried dates and figs.
Appearance: An almost black beer with hints of deep ruby. A small head and little lace.
Taste: The taste is more dominated by the coffee/chocolate but also smoked sausage and charcoal. A nice bitter but not dominant aftertaste.
Palate: The carbonation is surprisingly active, with many small bubbles.
Overall: A really good beer for a dark and cold night.
Note: Bottle 500 ml. Reviewed 2010-01-30.

Nice smoky porter that does what it should without impressing excessively. But it tastes well, nevertheless.

Smoked beer is just really not my type of beer I discovered by trying this one. Probably a great beer anyway.
