COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The historical A-1 brand has returned. During the 1940s and ’50s, Arizona Brewing Company’s A-1 beer was the most popular brew in the Grand Canyon State. Today’s revival is more of an European-style pilsner.

Easy drinking beer for the summer. Pretty well balanced as far as hops and malts. Taste does not linger, good session beer. Has old-time retro packing.

Draft. Poured a clear amber color with a moderate frothy white head that lasted and had good lacing. Medium hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This beer met my expectations.

12 ounce bottle that pours a clear yellow color, aromas f grain, light hops, and a smidge of honey. Flavors are crisp grain, some yeast, floral hops, light on the palate, decent little pils.

Sampled at the brewpub. Golden with a nice creamy white head. A delicious aroma of honey. Soft malts are dominant in the flavor. Some honey, too. Light euro hops add a bit of cabbage (?). Not a bad beer at all.

12oz bottle pours slightly opaque deep gold with forgettable white head. The aroma offers up grainy malts, a touch of butterscotch and vague tartness. The taste has a tart yeasty punch to start enhanced by bubbly carbonation. It then settles down to grainy malts and butterscotch with faint floral hops. Hmm? It seems yeasty and prickly and lacking in hops for the style.

Well I actually rated this one in an original A-1 glass. Light yellow pour. Grainy, light hops, crisp and refreshing but certainly not a beer I could drink much of.

Yellow pour with small head. Aroma of grain, and sweet malts. Taste of corn, malt and weirdly sweet. Nice carbonation but not very enjoyable.

Received 12-oz bottle via trade with Sparky. Pours a semi-clear golden amber colored brew with a fast dissolving and creamy off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of fruity golden grain malt, a hint of corn, honey, a touch of apple and floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, a touch sweet with golden grain malt, white bread yeast, some butter, a hint of honey and floral hops. Finish is semi-sweet soft bitterness with aftertaste if honey and a touch of corn. Much different than the historical A-1 of the late 60s and early 70s but a nice return of a once defunct popular brand.
