3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled on tap at Nimbus Brewing
Arrives from the tap with a ½ finger thick, pale, off-white head. The beer is a murky pale amber color that shows a hazed, straw gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells phenolic, of earthy coriander like spice notes, a touch peppery, notes of clove, has a fair amount of dried hay like grain, as well as some cracker like malt character.
The flavor has a thin, sort of metallic, almost cheap swill like corn flavor to it. The body is quite light and refreshing, though it has just enough texture to keep it from being watery. The finish has a phenolic clove character to it, a touch of a bitter hop bite, some light herbal hop notes, a touch of cured plastic like character (though this is quite light and well within style), and an earthy / peppery spice character that is a mix of pepper, coriander, and perhaps grassy fennel. There is a dried weed herbal character here that mixes in with a dried hay like grain character, and there is also a nice, pale malt, cracker like flavor to this beer.
Hmm, not bad, but it certainly has a ways to go before being great. The cheap swill flavor was a bit weird (was it just stagnant tap lines that produced this) and somewhat off-putting. This is light and refreshing, and I would actually recommend getting this served in a frozen pint glass; the brewery is pretty warm, and I think being served quite a bit colder would hide the off flavors, plus make this a bit more refreshing. I would certainly drink this again, and if it was bottle conditioned I would likely happily have a couple of these on hand.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The twist cap low fill “12oz” bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up some sugar sweetness, stale earthy basement and then a bit of pear to apple esters and the odd Saison like spiciness sort of here and there. The taste is a little spicy and getting a touch cracked black pepper too. It then gets sweet with pear and a dash of ripe banana. It leaves behind a faint yeasty film in my mouth.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a murky brownish yellow with a thick sticky off white head. Aroma is cereal banana and spices. Flavor is banana cloves metal esthers and spices. Nice to see nimbus crank out this style but it isn’t quite as well put together as I’d hoped.

On tap @ the Nimbus Bistro (Tucson) - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a faint off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is light phenols and esters. Flavor is esters, yeast, spice, phenols, and herbal hops. The finish is full of esters and is a bit dry. A decent beer.
