COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark brown ale deriving maltiness from two types of American crystal malts, yet not overly heavy in body. Rounded with a nutty flavor from chocolate malt and a hint of black patent malt. Finished with aromatics from Czech Saaz hops.

12 oz Bottle via Mystery Swap (thanks FlacoAlto!). Pours a dark brown/almost black with a large tan head. Nose is very nutty with some toasted grain note and toffee notes. Taste is the same but is sour. The sourness overwhelms everything except a bit of soy suace flavor....THis is my fourth different beer from this brewery and the 2nd sour one. Think i got a bad beer here, hopefully will get to try a fresh one one day.

Bottle from trade with cbkschubert. Poured a nice brown color with a thin white head. Aromas of chocolate and caramel. The flavor found wood, nuts, chocolate, coffee and a touch of grass as it warmed. Light body and a coffee aftertaste. Very Nice!!

Bottle, thanks to FlacoAlto. Dark brown, with a large tan head. Aromas are roasted malt and nuts. Flavors are nuts, roasted malt, and is somewhat metallic.

FlacoAlto generously donated four Nimbus brews to me, and the Brown Ale was the first I tasted. Into my goblet it sluiced, producing a rather elegant, nearly black visage highlighted by chestnut brown sparkles and a thick chapeau of foamed milk. The nose is rather tight, but with time I was able extract a rich chocolate aroma to which hints of licorice, mint, soy sauce and caramel were appended. The flavor seemed rather dilute and paradoxal to the opulent semblance of the beer. Roasted malts and a particularly obvious Hershey’s chocolate inflection composed the principal body, while a finishing flare of dry coffee sealed the expanse of this beer. A somewhat misleading effort that would vastly benefit of a thicker texture and the slightest increase in complexity.

Pours a dark brown with a small head. The aroma is a bit of nuts, some metallic notes and something that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it sure isn’t pleasant. I’m not really digging this beer at all.

12 oz bottle via trade with cbkschubert. This is a pretty beer - clear mahogany pour with a nice, thick tan head. Beautiful lace rings! Nose is nutty, some medium coffee notes, a tad metallic, but not offputting. Burnt nut and coffee flavors, caramel, just a touch of metallic. Mildly hopped, with a nutty, lightly smoky finish. Really a good brown - I am starting to appriciate this style...

Brown color, light mahogany. Light head and lacing. Nose of burnt cheese, light smoky pepperjack and some roast and vegetal peppery notes. The flavor has a gentle nutty toffee character and some roast, lightly spicy, finishes clean, a bit thin, but good.

Bottle at Old Chicago. Served way too cold. Dark brown in colour with a small head. Roasted and malty with a nice level of hoppiness. Slightly bitter with a weak hint of chocolate. I think this would have been really good had the temperature been more accurate.
