BCMike22 (79), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 18, 2008 Poured into Red Sox pint. Pours VERY dark, almost black. Smells of rich dark malt. Next to zero head / light carbonation. Very smooth, very tasty brew. Rich in flavor but easy to drink. Excellent beer.
after4ever (1696), Brier, Washington, USA Jun 16, 2008 12-oz. Thanks, Bitbucket! Talk about a guy who knows how to bring back the right kind of souvenirs for his pals when he goes on a trip--Bob’s got it goin’ on.
Pours a deep, nearly opaque dark brown with a slim tannish rim. Minimal lace. Nice forward molasses and caramel, brown bread-y nose. Medium body, soft carb. The molasses, caramel, and brown bread come back for the mid-palate. Mild finish. Not a bad little brown. A bit on the dull side, but not flawed in any heinous way. highibus (235), Vail, Arizona, USA Jun 5, 2008 a dark chestnut with thin tan head. aroma of biscuit malt and burnt cocoa. flavor is much of the same with some nice earthiness. a good brown Stine (1318), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA May 26, 2008 Ruddy mahogany red pour; pillowy, creamy soda foam. Mineral, berry, and earthy toasted malt aroma. Candied pecans, and caramel, but more rustic than rich. A big, warm cinnamon spiciness in bonfire smoke unfolds with a surprising depth. Flavor is gritty, bittersweet pecan at first. Sugary tones of malt shuffle about; crispy hints of apple and candied nuts on basic dark bread. A wink of black malt astringency lingers a bit, with some grapefruity hop, waning into a sharp, sweet middle of baked pears. Thin palate is fittingly not sharply carbonated, retaining smoothness; finishes short, with some earthy sweetness of cinnamon sugar smacking lightly. Casually enjoyable.
