COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional stout using dark roasted malted barley to create a full-bodied ale. Rounded with the smooth flavor of oats, the addition of English Kent Goldings hops produces a creamy stout that has proven to be a favorite.

12 Oz Bottle via footy. Flat cardboard and white toast aroma. Light salted caramels. Faint roast. Spills a deep black-brown, with mahogany fringes and rim of tanned soap. Flavor is a static, wet, plain brown sugar and plum flavor. Old tasting. Bits of ocean flotsam. Finishes in the higher metallic range. Salted. Pretty weak stout base. Body is a nip thin. Soured coffee grains. Does not excel. A bit too still, but more carbonation would have blasted through the empty body of the beer, making it even less desirable.

(Tap @ Old Chicago, Glendale, AZ): Pours a dark blackish color. Smallish tannish head. Slight coffee aroma, more chocolately, but not very strong. Crisp watery taste. Some chocolate-coffee taste.

12 oz bottle from Sparky27. Pour is mostly black with light cordovan highlights, nice full one inch taupe head. Thick lacing as the head slowly falls. Aroma of mild roasted malt, with a hint of some tangerine sweetness and dusty peanut shells. Odd, never smelled that one (peanut shells) before. Taste is flat, old office coffee with some artificial sweetener mixed in. Remarkably, the peanut taste is present in the finish - along with a decent blast of Crystal malt. As this warms, quite a bit of diacetyl reveals itself, certainly detracting. Palate is medium, decently carbonated with a longish dusty finish. Interesting enough beer, similar to the other Nimbus beers, a little but all over the place. Thanks Eric!

Draft. Pours clear cola-brown, thin pale tan head; spotty lacing. Nose is roast, oats, cream, quite a light, simple nose. Flavours are watery roast, soap. Meh....

Opaque black with tan brown head that doesn’t retain well. Nose is on weaker side for an Oatmeal stout IMO. However, from what is there it is nice - Whoppers candy, nougat, chocolate, caramel icing on birthday cake. Palate is a nice chalky roasty chocolate flavor, with plent of roastiness to boot. Caramel again too. Finish is long and caramel sweet.

Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 17, 2010
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2010 12 oz. bottle. Pours a translucent, dark, cola brown color with a small, creamy head of mocha colored foam. Wet flares hang on to the glass, but just barely, with a few trailing spots of lace. The aroma is a bit off, showing a slightly plasticy overtone amidst notes of dry, dark cocoa roast, coffee, and hints of lactic cream. There’s a decent amount of green, grassy hops on the nose as well, along with a faint wisp of spruce. Flavors follow suit, mainly dry and roasted, with a big cocoa powder presence and a touch of flaked oats, again showing some chemical or plastic notes. Grassy hops are again quite prominent on the finish. The palate is medium bodied at best, a little light for a stout actually, with a really dry, prickly sort of feel. It would be nice if the chemical notes weren’t there, but they are. Eh, not very good.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a scant, yellow-beige head. Smell: Light, stark notes of roasted grains, chocolate, fruit, and oats. All of it very, very light. All of it very, very forgettable. Taste: A faint sweetness overlaying a roasted barley scaffolding, a few meager hints of chocolate, and a dull, low fruitiness. Lightly earthy, faintly bitter English hops. Dry, kind of flavorless finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation. Overall: A mild, mild-tasting beer that’s just plain boring. I wasn’t asking for much, I wasn’t, but, come on, Nimbus, give me something to work with.
