3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2005 bottle, I assume (correct me if Iím wrong, Sebastian) graciously sent by FlacoAlto for no other reason than to let me try some Arizona micros. How about that?!
Initially, a small head appears, a sort of marble-cream-white, but it quickly flees to the edges of the glass. Smells of prunes and toffee with some light, dry, earthy roast. The roast is quite light and lets in some chocolate and light soy notes. No hops noted in the nose. The aroma strength is fairly weak, though. Flavor begins with a chocolate-fudge note, sweet and malty, with dry, earthy toffee lingering. Reminds me of what a good cigar and some espresso might taste like, only very faint tobacco and coffee notes are apparent. Very dry on the end, as I mentioned now about 3 times, but a sweet chocolate is there for balance. Very low carbonation, medium body and a slightly watery consistency. No alcohol noted. Chocolate covered prunes linger on and I find little in the way of yeast, though Iím not surprised as the beer seems to be filtered. Hmm, odd, I liked this beer much more than my score indicates, but I guess itís a tough style for me, statistically.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Pours a deep dark brick red. No carbonation and just a paper-thin tan head. Some lacing. Aroma of earthy alcohol, a little dusty and salty, with tones of sweet medium roast malts, and a background of English hops. Flavor is sweet and light syrupy, nutty/toffee and light alcohol, and nice gentle finish. Nice mouthfeel with the low carbonation. Body is somewhat thin but a little creamy at the same time. Good Stuff.

It used to be called No Evil, I donít know why they changed the name but its just as good.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2004 This is dark copper with an alcoholy, nut, malt, and light smoke character. This is a good strong English ale impression. RE-RATE after visiting the brewpub ... pretty much same comments ... strong, but not overpoweringly sugared. Sweet, but balanced. Good stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
the last beer of the weekend while i was watching football at old chicago. Very strong aroma full of spice, banana, hops, and sweetness. appearance was murky brown. Flavor was very complex-hops, nuts, banana, and spices. my only downfall here was a thin palate, but that may have been because of the old chicago mugs on ice.
