Nimbus Red Ale is a rich, medium-bodied American-style amber ale. Known for its sophisticated mouth feel and exceptional drinkability, our Red Ale is a true classic. Copper-hued and well-balanced, Nimbus Red Ale has a lightly sweet taste enhanced with the flavor of four different malt varieties and flaked barley. We brew this beer with handpicked Chinook and Cascade hops. This combination gives our Red a mild malt sweetness and a relatively dry, aromatic finish. Never bitter, Nimbus Red is sure to please the beer lover who enjoys lighter flavors and a lower alcohol content. It's crisp, refreshing taste has made our Red a fixture at major sporting events throughout Southern Arizona.

Had one in Tucson Airport, during a 3 hour delay. A beer so diferent to others you just have to have one. Once you taste it you got to have another. It is rich in flavor, not so in aroma. Thick foam-head, actually good flavor. Maybe the best beer I´ve had in a long time.

Bottle. Cloudy amber pour, thin head. Malty aroma with notes of floral hops and paper. Flavor starts sweet and turns bitter. A touch of grapefruit and some off-putting perfuminess. Thin body and moderate carbonation. The hop and malt balance left a strange aftertaste for me. Not a favorite.

Bottle thanks to cbkschubert, Thanks craig. Poured a hazy(amber) body with thin head, decent carbonation. sweet malty aroma with a light floral/hoppy feel, something else I can’t pinpoint. Taste was sweet with malt, slight cherry detected. Good amber. Very drinkable and smooth.

(Bottle) Pours a clear deep amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, toffee, tobacco, and florals. Flavor of toasted malt, nuts, citrus, and caramel.

Dark mud/orange color with a thin white film of head. Aroma is very odd. Earthy and sweet, but there are some hops hidden in there. The flavor is odd, with some metallic notes and some odd hop notes. A very weird red ale.

12 oz bottle courtesy of FlacoAlto. Thanks! Pours a cloudy orange with a HUGE white bubbly head, had to let it settle for about 5 minutes before i could fit the whole bottle in my snifter. I actually smell like a toned down hot tomale... hmmm. Very malty, doesn’t really taste like most ambers i’ve had. But interesting, in a good way. Good beer in a unique kind of way.

Pours a transparent copper amber with a well-lacing white head. Lightly sweet, toasty malty aroma has some grainy notes and a touch of grapefruity hops. Body starts slightly sweet and grapefruity with some earthy, mildly tart citric presence. Could be a little more balanced, but a decent red ale.

Bottle from FlacoAlto. Pours copper with a huge white head. Smells of citrus, perfumy wildflowers, some malty sweetness, roses. Taste is of citrus, lots of tanginess and mellow malt. Finish is lemony with some basic maltiness.

12 oz bottle via FlacoAlto (thanks!). Pours an almost clear amber with a large but quickly dissipating head. Nose is very nice with some floral hops, strong lemon and some orange. Taste is sweet and sour with the sour lemon taking the edge. Also some toasty grains are present in the aftertaste. The sourness really makes it hard to detect any flavors. Medium body. heavy carbonation. I think this would be good if it was not so sour..i think we have an infection in this one as nobody else has mentioned sourness in this one....

Second stop at Nimbus, unfortunately Rillito did not perform much better than the Brown Ale. The recherché poppy red color, hid beneath a contrastingly drab soapy top suggesting candidly the deceptive nature of this brew. Strawberry jelly appears prominently on the nose, accompanied by equally fruity sensations of orange, mango and rose petal. Clover honey and caramel form a light malty base highlighted by pepper and cinnamon. Excellent qualities stand out from the aroma but they fail to interact and form a pleasant, balanced unity. The flavor suffers of the same symptoms bursting initially of juicy citrus hops only to reveal a bland and grainy mid-palate further impaired by vigorous carbonation. Dry bitterness in the finish leads to an aftertaste recovered by touches of strawberry and coffee. Lacking a true core but a beer with definite qualities; I found Nimbus’ palate a bit light once again, evoking a series of ‘in progress’ beers.
