COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nimbus Red Ale is a rich, medium-bodied American-style amber ale. Known for its sophisticated mouth feel and exceptional drinkability, our Red Ale is a true classic. Copper-hued and well-balanced, Nimbus Red Ale has a lightly sweet taste enhanced with the flavor of four different malt varieties and flaked barley. We brew this beer with handpicked Chinook and Cascade hops. This combination gives our Red a mild malt sweetness and a relatively dry, aromatic finish. Never bitter, Nimbus Red is sure to please the beer lover who enjoys lighter flavors and a lower alcohol content. It's crisp, refreshing taste has made our Red a fixture at major sporting events throughout Southern Arizona.

Pours a nice red color with white head. Some lacing present after a few minutes. Aroma is malt, but like malt right as you add to the brew kettle. Very nice. Spicy hop aroma is present too. Flavor is heavy malt with the same hop presence at the end. A little sweet, but there seems to be a bit dustiness or muskiness. Light to medium body and the finish is a nice hopping as mentioned above. A nice red.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2008 Had on tap at my favorite spot, Newport Pizza and Ale house. Nice light amber hue, sweet hints of citrus, gentle hops waves. Has a soft yet lingering finish. Pretty damn good with my slice of Ron Jeremy pizza~

12oz bottle from Bev Mo Carmel Mountain. A deep, hazed red/amber pour. Head was big and beige with nice lacing. On the nose, citrus hops and lightly roasted malts were prevalent. A nice smooth, toasty finish.

Pours a hazy amber color, 1/4" white head that disappears instantly. Nice lacing. Aromas of hops, light citrus. Flavor of light hops, and citrus. Very light to medium body beer. Smooth on the palate.

Flowery hop aroma. Not very red in the color. Leans towards the APA style. Clean malt flavor but just not very compelling.

Bottle from Park Lane Liquor in Lancaster, CA. The beer is a murky amber color with a medium and sudsy off-white head that burns off steadily. Spotty lacing. Malt and herbs in the nose with a bit of hops. Medium-bodied with malt, tart fruit and mildly bitter hops flavors. The herbal character is present in the background here as well. The finish is earthy malt with a short hoppy finish. Overall this is a decent Amber Ale, although not unique enough to feel compelled to try again.

12 oz. bottle, courtesy of DarkElf - thanks Stephen! Pours a slightly hazed medium amber color with a small off-white head that diminishes quickly. Predominantly floral hoppy aroma, with fruity and light caramel notes and lemon peel. Flavor is again hoppy upfront, with bright citrus and floral varieties, toasty, burnt caramel, dandelion milk, bitter fresh herbs, dusty pine notes and grapefruit zest in the finish, somewhat unbalanced and out of character. Medium body and crispy carbonation. Interesting brew, seems more of a well hopped APA, but the malts are forward in addition to the brash hops. Drinkable and notable, but not that good.

22-Oct-07 (12 oz bottle, Bottled March, 2007: $8.99/six-pack at BevMo in La Jolla, CA) With bright, grapefruit-like hops out in front providing moderate bitterness, and dry, grainy, slightly toasty malt lending acceptable structure and balance, this beer wants to go down pretty fast. Things tend to veer off toward the dusty, grapefruity hops as the beer warms, with perhaps a little tea coming out as well. Medium in body, moderate in carbonation, but the lingering citrusy hop presence is ensures mouthfeel that’s crisp, clean and dusty. Balanced aromas of grapefruit and lightly grainy malts. Hazy, golden-amber in color and topped by a modest, off-white head that leaves an impressive amount of patchy, doily-like lace on the glass. For a red ale, it could ideally use a bit more body and malt depth, but the bright grapefruit flavor of the hops is enough to satisfy.
