COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Babylon is an English take on an American style of the traditionally English India Pale Ale. Originated for the long voyage from England to India, and adopted as the quintessential Northwest beer style, IPA’s have a strong presence in the modern craft beer scene. This big Double IPA is influenced by its English roots, but firmly planted in the modern stylings of Northwest brewing, and enjoyable to hop enthusiasts everywhere!

Smells sweet and malty but very weak on the hops. Its orangy in colorand hazy, also has little white head. It tastes slightly bitter with a stronger sweet taste. The alcohol is tasteable. Its a medium/full bodied brew with little carbonation bubbles. Its not a teribble brew but for a doub ipa needs more hops.

Smells initially hoppy with booze. Pours clear orange. Tastes like an amber ale with little character. Smell is ok but taste doesn’t follow through. Pours golden with some lacing. Tap at Alibi.

Bookseeb (97) - Wenatchee, Washington, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Appearance has a nice copper amber color supporting a nice head that sticks around awhile leaving spotty lace. Smell is rich in caramel malt with balance floral hop aroma. Tasting the sweetness of the malt that may overbalance the grapefruit bitterness of the hops. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Overall it’s not a bad DIPA, But personally I’m not into sweet beers and this is one of those.

Draft - Mild orange and earthy hops. Middy orange with a thin white head. Earthy, resin nicely balanced malts with a nice mouthfeel. The British style lends to a sessionable but pedestrian IIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Blind tasting at Cooper’s Alehouse: Amber not much carbonation or head--rather strong looking. Tropical fruit and punchy nose. Fruit and candy body. Sweetly bitter and rather unattenuated. One note bitter. Very strong, fruit punchy, and wet.

Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours cloudy amber with a thick beige head and a sweet molasses aroma. There is a medium-bodied toffee flavor with a bitter citrus finish.

Bomber bottle. Pours orange ish, white head. Aroma is hoppy citrus, taste is quite sweet malt to me. Finish is clearish. Would be ok as a 6er or a sessiony thing, not really a special beer.

Poured from bomber, into a tulip glass. Hazy orange with a medium off white head. Nose is more on the citrus side, a little bready. Taste is somewhat balanced, nice long bitter finish. Not bad, but not up there with the real good ones.

22oz bottle from Belmont Station. A: Cloudy light copper color with a very thin lacing. No legs. It doesn’t look too bad, but it doesn’t have anything to recommend it. N: Subtle grassy nose with a fair amount of dried pineapple. There’s a little bit of marijuana and something akin to...glue?Lots of pine floor. Where’s the dry hopping? T: Very bready with a lot of bitterness throughout the middle. There’s hints of malt and a lot of straw. Peppercorns and spiciness. Some residual sugars add sweetness to the back of the palate. M: Not too bad. Very dry and moderately resinous. O: A subpar DIPA. I don’t expect a ton from Ninkasi, but it seems to me they can do better than this. I would not buy this again unless the recipe was changed.
