3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a wide flute glass. Deep red color with a great inch of thick white head.
Smells of rich malt, lots of it and only that.
Initially watery, then malty with a hop kick at the end.
Smooth and a little creamy. Low carbonation and medium bodied. A good mix.
Great drinking beer. Nice malty smell and taste plus it is actually red.

Lingering light hoppiness on the tongue. Lot of flavor. Smooth. Good alcohol kick. A good beer. I would order it again

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Purchased at Wally’s in Los Angeles, CA; enjoyed while walking the beach in Santa Monica on a gorgeous day. I didn’t take tasting notes, but remember this going down very smooth with rich, sweet malty notes and a huge white head. Pretty good stuff.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Moderately solid orange-brown color with heavy sediment, this hefty red has a sweet, gorgeous nose that’s a beautifully-balanced mix of yeast, hops, and sweet malts. In the mouth it offers a bitter, Belgian-style experience with a slightly gritty creaminess. The aroma is great, but in my opinion the flavor is seriously lacking. It’s also a little too yeasty, although subtly so.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The appearance has a nice rich malty red looking body with a huge lumpy foamy white head that rises above the pint glass and once it dies after a good minute it sinks to a valley of lumpy white goodness.
The smell is based around caramel malts with some bitterness but to me it seems like its just bitterness for the sake of bitterness.
The taste has some dried caramel malty flavoring - to me this doesn’t really show much in the taste. There is super dry caramel aftertaste that leads to a very dry finish.
On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body, and tries to show a sessionable quality that ends up in the end not being as sessionable as one might hope but still not exactly a sipper either.
Overall, this is mostly a weird beer that I’m unsure if I can really grasp. For the most part, I think I’d only have again if fresher or on tap.

From a 22 oz bottle shared in Jackson Hole WY. Pours a hazy amber with an ecru head. Malty nose. Flavors of grassy hops and some nutty notes. Medium bodied, bitter finish.

IBU 60. Brewed and dedicated to the believers of Ninkasi. Rich dark malt complexity is balanced by a plentiful hop presence bringing together perfection in every sip. Who knew believing had so many rewards.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber. Pours just the right muddy ruby hue, good semi-dense foam, lacing well. Aromas are on the lighter sweeter side, less sticky than the malt aromas I am used to with this style. Almost no hop bitterness in the nose either. Taste is pretty spot on for the style, solid tangy sticky caramel malts are decently balanced by strong bittering hops. Mouthfeel is perhaps just a touch more buttery than I would expect, and the finish is lighter and fruitier somehow (hops?) than I might want. Still, an excellent example of a red ale (kiss my ass American strong) and a worthwhile bomber.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from 22 oz bomber. Cloudy light brown in color. Initial bitter hoppish flavor. The malts are pretty good. Licorice notes then finish is bitter again. the head is an off white lacy, oily presence that sticks to side of glass. 6.6

22oz bottle in Seattle. Deep mahogany pour, creamy head. Big residual sugar, sweet yeast. Rich, alright. Still not a fan of this brewery.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep reddish-copper with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of rye malts, sweet malts, caramel, pine, grassy hops, and some apples. Taste is rye, bready sweet malts, caramel, pine, citrus, toffee, and some grassy hops. Has a medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and a slightly dry, moderately bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty nice American Strong Ale that has a nice balance between hops and malts.
